Police Blotter: August 8, 2025

Monday, July 28

Claremont Police Department officers on patrol at Super King Market, 436 Auto Center Dr., allegedly spotted two men digging through nearby dumpsters at 10:53 p.m. and questioned them. A records check resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old Covina man for a felony warrant out of Covina, and of a Pomona man, 38, for a misdemeanor Los Angeles County warrant. Both were transported and booked at the Claremont jail. The Pomona man was released with a citation. The Covina man was picked up by Covina PD and held for court at Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles in front of an August 12 probation violation hearing at West Covina Courthouse.

Tuesday, July 29

Claremont police stopped a 63-year-old man from Claremont at 12:35 a.m. near Richbrook Drive and Towne Avenue after he allegedly ran a red light. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, transported to CPD, booked, held for detoxification, and released with a citation to appear in court.

Wednesday, July 30

Police responded to the 300 block of Berkeley Avenue at 12:17 a.m. on reports of a suspicious car in the area. Police later located the vehicle and stopped the driver for moving violations near Indian Hill Boulevard and Bonita Avenue. Officers questioned the driver, who at the time gave police a false name, and his passenger, who was later cited for misdemeanor public intoxication. After field sobriety tests the driver was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. A search of the car allegedly turned up narcotics, adding misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance to his charge list. At the station, police learned the man’s true identity during fingerprinting and the 25-year-old Ontario man was also charged with providing false ID to a peace officer, driving on a suspended license, and DUI while on probation, misdemeanors. He was booked, held for detox,  and released with a citation.

At 1:38 a.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 2500 block of King Way. Police arrived and questioned a 59-year-old Claremont man who told them he had attempted to get into the home to meet a friend. Police determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance and attempted to arrest him on the misdemeanor charge. He allegedly then resisted, and after being arrested, police added misdemeanor resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer to his charge list. He was then transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation.

Police conducted a pedestrian check at 11:55 a.m. at the former Richard Hibbard Auto Center, 191 S. Indian Hill Blvd. After determining the 26-year-old Montclair man was unable to care for himself, they attempted to detain him, but he resisted. He was eventually subdued and arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer, misdemeanors. He was transported to the Claremont jail and booked before being released due to a medical issue.

 

Thursday, July 31

Police were called to the 800 block of S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 4 p.m. on reports of a 30-year-old Pomona man who did not pay his restaurant bill. Police spoke to the man and a records check showed a misdemeanor warrant through the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and another from Covina PD. He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor defrauding an innkeeper, transported to CPD, booked, and later released with a citation.

Police questioned a man they recognized from previous encounters at 11:57 p.m. near Indian Hill Boulevard and the 10 Freeway. A records check showed a misdemeanor LA County warrant and he was arrested, transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation.
