Tuesday, December 2
Claremont Police Department officers stopped a man riding a bicycle at 3:14 a.m. for equipment violations at Indian Hill Boulevard and San Bernardino Avenue. During questioning, the 55-year-old Pomona resident allegedly admitted to being in possession of methamphetamine and a meth pipe. He was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and unlawful paraphernalia and transported to the Claremont jail, where he was booked and released with a citation to appear in Pomona Superior Court.
Wednesday, December 3
Police saw a 54-year-old Pomona man at 12:27 a.m. near Garey Avenue and Drake Street who was wanted for a November 17 burglary at Los Jarritos restaurant, 921 W. Foothill Blvd, and arrested him for felony burglary. A records check revealed a felony warrant out of Glendora, and a search allegedly yielded a narcotics pipe, adding the warrant and misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia to his charge list. He was transported to CPD, booked, and later taken into custody by Glendora PD to be booked for the warrant.
Claremont PD received four reports of spare tires being stolen from vehicles. The first, by the owner of a Ford Bronco, came at 7:43 a.m. along the 400 block of Vista Drive. Subsequent calls came from Jeep Wrangler owners at 8:37 a.m. in the 400 block of San Francisco Court, 12:24 p.m. on the 600 block of Harrison Avenue, and 9:11 p.m. in the 1400 block of Morton Circle. Police have identified two persons of interest, a driver and tire hauler. The investigation is ongoing.
Thursday, December 4
Police responding to a 4:12 a.m. burglary alarm at Euro Cafe, 546 E. Base Line Rd., found the glass front door shattered but no suspects inside. The business owner did not report any property had been taken. Then at 6:49 a.m. CPD responded to a burglary report in the same shopping center at Rincon Azteca, 586 E. Base Line Rd. The victim reported that the front door was smashed and coins were stolen, but the suspect fled before CPD arrived. Later in the day, CPD learned of a commercial burglary arrest in Upland and allege those suspects, a 32-year-old Lancaster man and a 37-year-old Upland woman, were responsible for the Claremont burglaries. The pair were booked at Upland PD then transferred to West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, where they were held for court. The man was released December 8 following a court appearance on drug possession charges.
Police stopped a car for moving violations at 10:02 p.m. near Tulane Road and Wellesley Drive and said the driver, a 30-year-old Claremont man, appeared intoxicated. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detoxification, and released due to a medical issue.
Sunday, December 7
Police responded to a 3:03 p.m. call about a 27-year-old Upland man in violation of a court order at a residence in the 2300 block of Ohio Drive. Arriving officers learned the man used a ridesharing service to leave the area and gave chase. Police said the suspect then attempted to flee on foot along Bluefield Drive, and was subsequently caught and arrested for misdemeanor violation of a court order. He was transported to CPD, booked, and later released after posting bond.
Monday, December 8
Claremont police responded to a 4:47 a.m. call about a man ringing a resident’s doorbell in the 1300 block of Briarcroft Road. Arriving officers spoke with a 47-year-old Pomona man, and a search allegedly revealed a large knife, methamphetamine, and a meth pipe. He was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a concealed dirk or dagger, a controlled substance, and unlawful paraphernalia, then transported to the Claremont jail where he was booked and released with a citation.
