Sunday, January 25
Claremont Police Department officers were notified that a person who attended an open house in the 2300 block of Navarro Drive at 8:30 p.m. had their purse stolen, and their credit cards had been used to purchase unknown items. The suspect is a Hispanic male, 5-foot-9-inches tall in his 40s, who left the open house in a silver Nissan Altima. An investigation is ongoing.
Tuesday, January 27
An employee at Sprouts Farmers Market, 835 W. Foothill Blvd., phoned police at 2:51 p.m. to report that a 5-foot-11-inch-tall Middle Eastern male in his 30s and a 5-foot-6-inch-tall Hispanic woman in her 30s had stolen about $1,500 worth of supplements. The theft occurred about 7:01 p.m. on January 25. Police are investigating.
Saturday, January 31
At 8:06 p.m., the Pomona Police Department notified Claremont police they had a 50-year-old Claremont man with a misdemeanor CPD warrant in custody. Claremont officers picked him up and transferred him to the Claremont jail, where he was booked and later taken to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles to be held for court. He was released February 3.
Monday, February 2
Witnesses reported a man having a mental health crisis in the 900 block of W. Base Line Rd. at 5:26 a.m. Arriving officers questioned the 36-year-old Claremont man and arrested him for being under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detoxification, and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Police responded to 9:29 a.m. calls about a woman hitting a man at College Park, 100 S. College Ave. Officers arrested a 36-year-old Claremont woman for felony domestic violence. She was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court. She was released February 4 and is due back at Pomona Superior Court April 7.
Tuesday, February 3
Police were called to the 900 block of W. Foothill Boulevard at 5:35 p.m. on reports of a man setting up an encampment. A records check of the 61-year-old Pomona man revealed a misdemeanor warrant from Pomona PD. During a search, police allegedly found a methamphetamine pipe. He was arrested for the warrant and misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia and transported to the Claremont jail. There, police said they found what appeared to be methamphetamine on him, leading to additional charges of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and bringing drugs into a jail, a felony. He was booked and released with a citation.
Friday, February 6
The Claremont Colleges Campus Safety Department called CPD to investigate an alleged felony domestic violence incident that occurred on the 500 block of Watson Drive at 6:37 p.m. Police continue to look into the matter.
Saturday, February 7
Police stopped a car for equipment violations at Base Line Road and Towne Avenue at 4:26 p.m. and questioned the driver, a 40-year-old man, and the passenger, a 30-year-old woman, both from Los Angeles. A records check of the driver revealed he was on post community release supervision, did not have a driver’s license, and had three felony warrants from LA County. A records check of the passenger showed a misdemeanor warrant. During a search, police allegedly found the man to be in possession of a number of controlled substances and the woman to be in possession of a meth pipe. The woman was arrested for her warrant and for misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia. After police searched the car and found drugs packaged for sale, scales, bags, three handguns with no serial numbers, also known as ghost guns, two rifles, two loaded high-capacity magazines, brass knuckles, ammunition, lock boxes with silver and gold coins, jewelry, clothing with tags, electronics such as tablets and phones, and IDs and credit cards not in his name, the man was arrested. He was charged with his warrants, felonies of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance for sale, transport of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, possession of brass knuckles, and being a felon in possession of ammunition. He was also charged with misdemeanor petty theft with two priors, possession of a high-capacity magazine, and possession of a controlled substance. Both were transported to CPD and booked. The woman was released with a citation. The man was transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles then to LA’s Twin Towers Correctional Facility on February 10. He appeared February 11 in Central Arraignment Court.
Monday, February 9
Officers responded to Boon Companion Toys, 145 Harvard Ave., on a 7:30 a.m. commercial burglary call. Police said surveillance cameras showed one male suspect wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, face mask, dark pants and light colored shoes, smashing the front glass door at 12:32 a.m. and stealing about $1,900 worth of Lego sets. The suspect fled in a dark colored vehicle parked in front of the store. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call CPD at (909)399-5411. An investigation is ongoing.
