Sunday, February 8
Claremont Police Department officers responded to Berkeley and Harrison avenues at 2:52 a.m. on reports of a man holding onto a girl and being very aggressive with her. Arriving officers said the man, 35, and the woman, 40, both from Pomona, initially ignored verbal commands and resisted attempts to detain them. A records check of the man showed a felony Riverside County warrant, and a search allegedly turned up methamphetamine and pipe. Police said the man tried to destroy the pipe, leading to his arrest for the warrant and felony possession of a controlled substance with two priors, and misdemeanor resisting or obstructing a peace officer, battery on a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful paraphernalia, and destroying evidence. A search of the woman allegedly yielded methamphetamine, leading to her arrest for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. Both were transported to the Claremont jail and booked. The man was transferred to the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. The woman was released due to a medical issue.
Police were called to the 100 block of W. College Way at 1:10 p.m. on reports of a vehicle theft. The caller told police at least three people arrived at 12:46 p.m. and stole a Ford utility van. One suspect was described as a male with a medium build in his 20s. The van was later spotted by California Highway Patrol officers abandoned on the 210 Freeway near the Towne Avenue exit, minus $20,000 worth of tools and an Apple laptop. An investigation is ongoing.
Tuesday, February 10
Police received a 4:53 p.m. call from Denny’s, 820 S. Indian Hill Blvd., regarding and man and woman who had skipped out on their bill. Police described the man as about 5-foot-9-inches-tall and 230 lbs. with a goatee and neck tattoo, and the woman about 5-foot-6-inches tall, 150 lbs., with dark hair. An investigation is ongoing.
Wednesday, February 11
Claremont police were summoned to the 1300 block of N. Towne Avenue at 11:02 a.m. on reports a suspicious person. Arriving officers spoke with a 30-year-old Fort Worth, Texas man and determined he was impaired. He was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, then transported to CPD, booked, held for detoxification, and later released with a citation.
Friday, February 13
Claremont police were called to Motel 6, 840 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 5:29 a.m. regarding a woman who allegedly spat on an employee. Arriving officers arrested the 35-year-old Los Angeles woman for misdemeanor assault and transported her to CPD, where she was booked and released with a citation to appear in court.
Saturday, February 14
Police were called to the 400 block of W. First St. at 12:18 p.m. on reports of two men fighting. Arriving officers ran records checks, and a 37-year-old Upland man was taken into custody on two misdemeanor Los Angeles County warrants. The other man, 46 and from Pomona, was arrested for misdemeanor violation of a protective order. Both were taken to CPD and booked. The Pomona man was later released with a citation to appear in court. The Upland man was transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles to be held for court.
Sunday, February 15
Police responded to 7:16 a.m. calls about a robbery at Motel 6, 840 S. Indian Hill Blvd. Officers determined the incident had in fact been an argument between two couples that escalated into an assault. Police said the primary aggressor, a 31-year-old Pomona man, punched another man and his girlfriend, leading to his arrest for felony assault. His partner, a 26-year-old Pomona woman, was arrested for misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance. Both were transported to the Claremont jail and booked. The woman was released after detox. The man was transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in LA where he was held for court.
