Sunday, February 9
Claremont Police Department officers conducted a 9:05 a.m. welfare check on two people sleeping in a parked car near Mount Baldy Road and Evey Canyon, and allegedly saw what looked to be methamphetamine inside the vehicle. A records check of Pomona resident Andrew Perez, 29, revealed a misdemeanor warrant. A search of Avery Chisolm, 39, also from Pomona, allegedly turned up meth and a meth pipe. Both were arrested, Perez for the warrant, Chisolm for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were then transported to CPD, booked, and later released with citations to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Monday, February 10
Pasadena PD called CPD at 1:23 a.m. to report they had 28-year-old Glendale resident Glendale De La Cruz in custody, who had a felony warrant out of Claremont. Claremont police picked up De La Cruz and transported him to CPD for booking. He was then transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles and later to Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, where at press time he was being held in lieu of $530,000 bail in front of a February 27 Pomona Superior Court appearance.
Wednesday, February 12
Police responded to Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue at 3:31 p.m. after receiving calls about a car with an unresponsive driver blocking traffic. Arriving officers questioned Chino resident Jose Mares, 35, and after field sobriety tests arrested him for misdemeanor DUI. He was transported to CPD, booked, held for detox, and later released with a citation.
Thursday, February 13
Police responded to the 400 block of Guilford Avenue at 10:10 a.m. after receiving a call about a man at a residence who had been barred from being there by a court order. Arriving officers spoke with Jonathan Medrano, 39, of Claremont. A records check confirmed an active restraining order and revealed two Los Angeles County misdemeanor warrants. Medrano was arrested for the warrants and for violating the court order, transported to CPD, booked, and later transported to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles ahead of a February 19 appearance in Pomona Superior Court.
Friday, February 14
Police responded to Vons, 550 E. Base Line Rd., at 10:16 a.m. after reports of a theft in progress. Arriving officers questioned Dereka Robinson, 31, of Los Angeles. A records check revealed a misdemeanor warrant, and she was arrested for that and for misdemeanor attempted theft. She was transported to CPD, booked, and later released with a citation to appear in court.
Claremont police were called to Norms, 807 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 2:25 p.m. regarding two people who could not pay their bill. Arriving officers questioned Pomona residents Josue Carbajal, 37, and Leanna Wilcox, 25. Carbajal was arrested for misdemeanor defrauding an innkeeper. A records check showed Wilcox had a misdemeanor La Verne warrant, and she was arrested as well. They were transported to CPD and booked. Carbajal was released with a citation. Wilcox was transferred to La Verne police for booking, where she was held in front of her February 18 court date.
Sunday, February 16
Claremont Police stopped 57-year-old San Dimas resident Efrain Montes at 1:17 a.m. for moving violations near Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue. After field sobriety tests Montes was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, transported to CPD, booked, held for detox, and later released with a citation.
Monday, February 17
Following calls about a suspicious man near Indian Hill Boulevard and Second Street, police questioned Derek Quinonez, 28, of West Covina at 5:39 p.m. A search allegedly turned up methamphetamine and a meth pipe, and Quinonez was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. He was transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation to appear in court.
Saturday, February 8
Police responded to a solo vehicle collision near Fergus Falls and Mt. Baldy Road at 3:22 a.m., where they questioned Henri Villegas, 34, of Los Angeles. Officers say he refused sobriety tests, and after being transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for his injuries, refused requests for a blood sample. After being released from the hospital, Villegas was arrested for DUI and attempting to leave the scene of the accident, both misdemeanors. He was then booked at CPD and released with a citation.
Police responded to the 100 block of Harvard Avenue at 11:32 p.m. after calls about a fire adjacent to a business. There they questioned Pomonan Derek Marshall, 44, and arrested him for felony arson. He was booked at CPD, and later transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles, then to Men’s Central Jail, pending a February 11 Pomona Superior Court appearance.
