Police Blotter: January 16, 2026

Thursday, January 1

Claremont Police Department officers recognized a 28-year-old Claremont man from previous encounters near First Street and College Avenue at 12:41 p.m. A subsequent records check revealed three misdemeanor CPD warrants. He was arrested, transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court. He appeared January 5 in Pomona Superior Court, after which he was transferred to North County Correctional Facility in Castaic. He is due to be released January 21.

 

Friday, January 2

A resident called police to the 700 block of Plymouth Road at 1:34 p.m. reporting multiple credit cards had been opened in their name. An investigation into the identity theft incident is ongoing.

 

Sunday, January 4

Claremont police responded to the 600 block of Via Espirito Santos at 4:25 p.m. after a caller reported a golden tooth had been stolen from their home. An investigation is ongoing.

 

Monday, January 5

Police responded to a 9:36 a.m. domestic violence call in the 200 block of E. Blue Mountain Way. Arriving officers spoke with the victim and arrested a 35-year-old West Covina woman for felony domestic battery. She was transported to CPD, booked, and held for court. She was released January 7 after being arraigned in Pomona Superior Court.

Claremont police were called to the 400 block of Auto Center Drive by a security guard who said a man had spat on him at 2:23 p.m. after being told to leave the area. Arriving officers arrested the suspect, a 39-year-old Pomona resident, for misdemeanor battery and being influence of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Claremont jail, held for detoxification, and released with a citation to appear in court.

 

Tuesday, January 6

A business owner in the 200 block of N. Indian Hill Blvd. called police at 12:29 p.m. to report their door had been pried open and blank checks, a computer charger, hand sanitizer, and a container of wipes were stolen. CPD reported no fraudulent charges had hit the business owner’s account as of Tuesday. An investigation is ongoing.

 

Thursday, January 8

At 1:36 p.m., police recognized a 34-year-old Pomona woman from previous encounters who had an outstanding warrant driving a car and stopped her near Foothill Boulevard and Lynoak Drive. She was arrested on the felony San Bernardino County warrant, transported to the Claremont jail, booked, then transferred to West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, where she was held for court. She posted bail and was released that evening.

Police responded to calls about a man running in the street near Mountain Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at 4:40 p.m. Arriving officers spoke with a 26-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man and arrested him for misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance. During a search at the Claremont jail, police allegedly found methamphetamine, adding bringing drugs into a jail, a felony, to his charge list. He was booked, held for detox, and released with a citation.

 

Saturday, January 10

Police responded to a vehicle burglary report from the 700 block of W. San Jose Avenue at 2:22 a.m. Arriving officers said the car’s front window was smashed and a laptop, cell phone, battery pack, and headset valued at $3,000 were stolen. An investigation is ongoing.

 

Monday, January 12

Police stopped a 62-year-old Pomona man for equipment violations at 2 a.m. near Towne Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and driving without a license. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation.
