Thursday, January 11
The Claremont Police Department was called to the intersection of Bucknell Avenue and Arrow Highway at 3:01 a.m. for a reported grand theft in progress. Arriving officers located a man and a woman riding bicycles. During questioning both suspects identified themselves and a records check revealed both had warrants for their arrest. The 34-year-old unhoused man was also allegedly riding a stolen bicycle. He was arrested for felony grand theft, misdemeanor giving a false ID to an officer, and for a Los Angeles County no bail warrant. The woman, Claremont resident Brittany Ramirez, 34, was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant. Both were taken to the Claremont jail, booked, and issued citations on all new charges. The man was held until he could be transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles on the no-bail warrant.
Friday, January 12
Police were called to the Claremont Medical Center, 995 W. Foothill Blvd., at 8:42 a.m. regarding a man looking into windows of parked cars while holding a large rock. Officers contacted Thomas Paul Wade Jr., 47, of Pomona and determined he had two warrants for his arrest. He was taken to the Claremont jail, booked, and later released with a citation to appear at the Pomona Superior Court.
At 12:38 p.m. police responded to the 500 block of W. San Jose Avenue for a report of possible domestic violence. Police contacted a couple they said are in a dating relationship and share a child together. Following their investigation police arrested a 20-year-old Claremont man for misdemeanor domestic violence and child abuse. He was taken to the Claremont jail, booked, and held until he could post bail.
Sunday, January 14
Police were called to the 500 block of Guilford Avenue at 1:57 p.m. about a man who was refusing to leave the property. When officers arrived they contacted Jaelen Chaves, 23, of Anaheim, in the home’s front yard. Police said Chaves had previously been advised that he is not allowed to be at the location. The resident requested a private person’s arrest and Chaves was taken into custody. He was transported to the Claremont jail and later released with a citation to appear in court.
Monday, January 15
Police conducted a 5:05 p.m. traffic stop at Base Line Road at Towne Avenue after being alerted to four suspects who had allegedly stolen a large amount of clothing from a Kohls store in La Verne. During the traffic stop one of the suspects attempted to flee on foot but was caught a short distance away. Police arrested Moreno Valley residents Rodrigo Ruiz, Elijah Gonzalez, Cameron Hicksknowles and Ernestine Jones for felony burglary, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy. The four were taken to the Claremont jail and booked. Gonzalez, Hicksknowles, and Ernestine were later released on a citation, while Ruiz was held for court due to a probation hold.
