Saturday, January 17
Claremont Police Department officers saw a woman driving through Claremont who they recognized from previous encounters as a 55-year-old Claremont resident with a suspended license, and conducted an 11:48 p.m. traffic stop at Garey Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. A records check confirmed the suspended license, and following field sobriety tests she was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and driving on a suspended license. She was then transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detoxification, and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Tuesday, January 20
Police stopped a car for equipment violations near Towne Avenue and Arrow Highway at 9:28 p.m. The driver, a 27-year-old Pomona man, then exited the car and allegedly admitted to possessing cocaine. Following field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and possession of a controlled substance, transported to CPD, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation to appear in court.
Wednesday, January 21
Officers stopped a bicyclist for equipment violations near Bonita and Towne avenues at 2:16 a.m. A records check of the 55-year-old Pomona man showed three Los Angeles County warrants and a search allegedly turned up methamphetamine and a meth pipe. He was arrested for the warrants and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and unlawful paraphernalia then transported to the Claremont jail for booking. After being held for detox, he was released with a citation.
Thursday, January 22
Police responded to a 10:36 a.m. commercial burglary call from Baumann Engineering, 212 S. Cambridge Ave. The owner said two people broke into a locked shed on the property about 1:30 p.m. January 17 and stole scrap metal. One suspect was described as wearing a black sweater, pants and shoes. An investigation is ongoing.
Claremont police stopped a 32-year-old Upland man near Claremont Boulevard and Andrew Drive for equipment violations at 12:20 p.m. A records check showed a misdemeanor warrant, and after field sobriety tests he was arrested for the warrant and misdemeanor DUI. He was transported to CPD, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation.
A resident in the 100 block of E. Fairfield Drive called police at 6:54 p.m. to report an unknown suspect entered their home between 1 and 6 p.m. and stole $9,000 in cash and an unknown amount of jewelry. An investigation is ongoing.
A resident in the 500 block of Aurora Drive called CPD at 8:23 p.m. to report the theft of a package valued at $50 by a person wearing a grey hoodie, yellow reflective vest, blue jeans and white Nike shoes at about 4:11 p.m. Police continue to investigate.
Sunday, January 25
Calls for service regarding a suspicious man drew police to the Claremont Packing House, 532 W. First St., at 12:37 a.m. Arriving officers said a 34-year-old Upland man showed signs of impairment, leading to his arrest for misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance. During a search police allegedly found methamphetamine, adding misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance to his charge list. He was arrested and transported to the Claremont jail, where he was booked and held for detox. He was later released with a citation.
