Saturday, July 5
Claremont Police Department officers responded to First Street and Harvard Avenue at 8:20 p.m. on reports of man with a firearm. Arriving officers spoke with the suspect, who identified himself, and a search did not turn up a gun but did allegedly find methamphetamine, and he was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. After being transported to CPD police learned the 34-year-old San Dimas man’s true identity, and providing false identification to a peace officer, a misdemeanor, was added to his charge list. A records check showed four misdemeanor warrants out of Glendora. After he was booked and cited for his Claremont charges, he was held for Glendora police, who later took custody of him.
Sunday, July 6
Police were notified of a possible drunk driver at 8:16 p.m. and stopped a car matching the description at the Claremont Packing House parking garage, 470 W. First St. After the driver, a 35-year-old Beaumont man, refused field sobriety tests, he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and transported to CPD, where he refused to provide a chemical sample despite a signed warrant, adding misdemeanor violation of a court order to his charge list. He was booked, held for detoxification, then held for court. He was released July 8.
Monday, July 7
Claremont Police went to San Antonio High School, 125 W. San Jose Ave., at 10:19 a.m. on reports of a homeless encampment being established. Officers spoke with a Pomona woman, 40, and a records check showed two misdemeanor warrants. She was transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Tuesday, July 8
Claremont officers reported seeing a 32-year-old Pomona man urinating near Foothill Boulevard and Williams Avenue at 8:02 a.m. They spoke with him and a records check showed a misdemeanor Pomona warrant. A search allegedly turned up a methamphetamine pipe, and he was arrested for the warrant and possession of unlawful paraphernalia, misdemeanors. He was then transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released with a citation.
Thursday, July 10
Police pulled over an Ontario man, 35, for moving violations near Foothill Boulevard and Garey Avenue at 2:05 a.m. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, transported to CPD, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation to appear in court.
Saturday, July 12
Claremont police stopped a cyclist for moving violations at 3:07 a.m. near Foothill Boulevard and Sumner Avenue. Police said the man was under the influence of a controlled substance, and arrested him on the misdemeanor charge. A records check then revealed he had given police a false name, and the 21-year-old Pomona resident had a misdemeanor warrant. Police then added the warrant and providing false identification to a peace officer to his charge list. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation.
Sunday, July 13
Claremont police stopped a 35-year-old Alhambra man for moving violations near Towne and Bonita avenues at 9:41 p.m. The man allegedly told police his driver’s license was suspended, and a check of the vehicle showed it had expired tags that he had allegedly attempted to hide with a falsified tag. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for DUI, driving on a suspended license, and forging or falsifying vehicle registration information, misdemeanors. The man was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation.
Monday, July 14
Police stopped a car for equipment violations near Monte Vista Avenue and Arrow Route at 1:52 a.m. and spoke with the driver, a 59-year-old Montclair man. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, transported to CPD, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation.
