Monday, June 9
Claremont Police Department officers spoke with a homeless man, 35, and homeless woman, 34, at the former Greyhound bus station, 888 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 11:50 a.m. and arrested the man for misdemeanor being under the influence of a controlled substance. A records check of the woman showed a misdemeanor warrant, leading to her arrest. Both were transported to CPD, booked, and released with citations to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Wednesday, June 11
Claremont police were called to the 100 block of south Mills Avenue at 1:25 a.m. regarding an apparently unconscious man in the area. Arriving officers conducted a records check, which showed a misdemeanor Los Angeles County warrant. He was arrested for the warrant and for misdemeanor disorderly conduct and transported to the Claremont jail, where he was booked, held for detoxification, and later released with a citation to appear in court.
Thursday, June 12
Officers conducted a 3:20 a.m. traffic stop of a 24-year-old Pomona man for moving violations near Towne Avenue and Syracuse Drive. While questioning him, police said a gun case with the word “glock” printed on it was in plain view. A search of his car allegedly revealed the case contained a loaded handgun with a large-capacity magazine. The man, who did not have a firearm permit or a driver’s license, was arrested for possession of a concealed and loaded firearm in a vehicle, possessing a large-capacity magazine, and driving without a license, all misdemeanors. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and later released with a citation. The gun and magazine were held for evidence.
Claremont police were asked to conduct an 8:54 a.m. welfare check on two men in the Starbucks parking lot at 810 S. Indian Hill Blvd. Arriving officers spoke with the homeless men and arrested one, a 37-year-old, for being influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. A search of the second man, 38, allegedly revealed a narcotics pipe, and he was arrested for misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia. They were transported to CPD, booked, held for detox, and released with citations.
At 10:31 p.m., police allegedly spotted a car going north in the southbound lanes of Monte Vista Avenue and stopped the driver, a 59-year-old Ontario woman. After field sobriety tests she was arrested for misdemeanor DUI, transported to CPD, booked, and held for detox before being released with a citation.
Monday, June 16
Claremont police pulled over a 24-year-old Pomona woman at midnight near Carleton Avenue and Arrow Highway for equipment violations. After field sobriety tests, she was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. She was transported to CPD, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation.
Police responded to a 3:02 a.m. call about a suspicious person approaching residences in the 500 block of Yale Avenue. Arriving officers viewed surveillance video and after a search of the area located the suspect, a 30-year-old Santa Monica man, and arrested him for misdemeanor prowling. A records check revealed a misdemeanor Long Beach warrant, and a search allegedly turned up a narcotics pipe, adding the warrant and possession of unlawful paraphernalia to his charge list. He was transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation.
