Monday, May 26
Claremont Police Department officers were called to the 100 block of W. First Street at 12:07 a.m. on reports of someone on the ground yelling. Arriving officers spoke with the 55-year-old homeless man, and a records check showed a misdemeanor warrant from Alhambra. The man was arrested, transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Wednesday, May 28
Police stopped a Hesperia man, 42, for moving violations at Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue at 1:10 a.m. A records check then revealed a felony warrant out of Pomona PD. A search of his person allegedly turned up a methamphetamine pipe, and a search of his car allegedly found a handgun without a serial number, meth, and fraudulent checks and credit cards. After field sobriety tests he was arrested on six felony charges: the warrant, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of an undetectable firearm, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, transportation of a controlled substance, and possession for sale of controlled substance. He was also charged with misdemeanor DUI, possession of unlawful paraphernalia, and theft by false pretenses. He was subsequently transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court. He was released the following day after being arraigned at Pomona Superior Court.
Friday, May 30
Officers went to the 700 block of W. 12th Street at 10:38 a.m. after someone called to report a bicycle theft in progress. After an investigation and review of surveillance video, police located a 31-year-old Pomona man allegedly in possession of the stolen bike. They searched his backpack and allegedly turned up burglary tools and a meth pipe, and he was arrested for felony grand theft and receiving stolen property, and misdemeanor possession of burglary tools, unlawful paraphernalia, and disorderly conduct. He was transported to CPD, booked, and later released with a citation.
Saturday, May 31
Police responded to a 9:15 p.m. call from the 300 block of Springfield Street regarding people searching through trash. Arriving officers spoke with a Montclair woman, 41, and a records check showed a misdemeanor warrant from San Bernardino County. While being placed under arrest, police allegedly found methamphetamine, adding misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance to her charge list. She was transported, booked at CPD, and later released with a citation.
Sunday, June 1
Claremont police questioned a 37-year-old Pomona man at 10:49 a.m. after allegedly witnessing him jaywalk near Chevron/McDonald’s, 860 S. Indian Hill Blvd. A subsequent records check showed a misdemeanor warrant and he was arrested, transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation.
Police responded to reports of a car colliding with a curb, a tree, and a utility pole near Base Line Road and Forbes Avenue at 7:58 p.m. Both the driver and passenger were hurt and were transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Police allege the driver, an Azusa resident, 37, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, and after being released from the hospital he was arrested, charged with felony DUI and driving without a license, a misdemeanor.
Monday, June 2
Claremont police stopped a 29-year-old Pomona man at Baughman Avenue and Indian Hill Boulevard for vehicle code violations at 1:54 a.m. A records check showed a misdemeanor San Bernardino County warrant, and a search of his car allegedly turned up a meth pipe. He was arrested for the warrant and misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia, transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation.
