Sunday, February 15
Claremont Police Department officers responded to Rancho San Jose Park, 666 W. San Jose Ave., at 4:29 p.m., where an apparent road rage incident had escalated to an altercation. Arriving officers said a 31-year-old Pomona man pushed a 34-year-old Claremont woman against a car and brandished a knife, and the woman hit the man in the face with a water bottle. The man was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor battery, the woman for felony assault with a deadly weapon. Both were transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released pending further investigation.
Wednesday, February 18
On February 16, CPD took a stolen car report in the 1000 block of Mills Avenue. It was recovered later that evening and police identified a 33-year-old Montclair man as a suspect. At 10:39 p.m. February 18, officers traveled the 4700 block of Berkeley Street in Montclair to arrest the suspect, where a search allegedly turned up a methamphetamine pipe and a stolen purse. He was arrested for felony driving or taking a vehicle without consent and theft with two or more priors, and misdemeanor receiving stolen property and possession of unlawful paraphernalia. He was transported to CPD, booked, and held in front of a February 20 appearance in Pomona Superior Court, where he pleaded not guilty to a single felony charge of driving or taking a vehicle without consent. He’s due back in court on March 25.
Saturday, February 21
A resident in the 100 block of W. Arrow Highway called police at 3:30 p.m. to report a burglary. An investigation is ongoing.
Sunday, February 22
Police were dispatched to Claremont Lodge, 736 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 3:53 a.m. on a domestic violence report. Arriving officers determined the caller had left the scene, but then spotted them in a nearby car with a 30-year-old Riverside man officers later learned was the primary aggressor in the alleged incident. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for felony domestic violence and misdemeanor DUI. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detoxification, and later released on bond.
Officers arrived at Claremont Toyota, 601 Auto Center Dr., at 7:26 a.m. on reports of a suspicious man in the area. After the man attempted to drive away from the scene, he was stopped by police. Following field sobriety tests the 42-year-old Pomona man was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. A search of his car allegedly yielded stolen vehicle keys from Claremont Toyota, and a search of his person allegedly turned up a methamphetamine pipe, adding felony grand theft and misdemeanor possession of unlawful paraphernalia to his charge list. He was transported to CPD, booked, and later released with a citation to appear in court.
Monday, February 23
Officers responded at 10:07 a.m. to a report of an attempted storage shed break-in in the 400 block of S. Indian Hill Boulevard sometime between February 21 and February 23. Police are investigating.
Wednesday, February 25
Reports of a man and woman arguing in a car led to police stop a vehicle in the 300 block of Sycamore Avenue at 8:48 p.m. Officers allege the driver, a 19-year-old Montclair man, broke his female passenger’s phone and left her with visible injuries. He was arrested for felony domestic violence and vandalism, transported to CPD, booked, and held for court. He was released the following day.
Friday, February 27
Officers stopped a 26-year-old Diamond Bar man for moving violations in the 200 block of S. Indian Hill Boulevard at 4:48 a.m. A search of his car allegedly revealed three legally registered semi-automatic pistols, each with loaded magazines. He was arrested for misdemeanor carrying a loaded firearm, transported to CPD, booked, and later released with a citation.
A person walking in the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park near Mills Avenue and Mt. Baldy Road was alerted to suspicious credit card activity. When they returned to their car, they discovered the driver’s side door had been tampered with and their wallet had been stolen. Police are investigating.
Claremont police received reports of a rape of a minor in the 1600 block of N. Indian Hill Boulevard at 10:35 p.m. An investigation is ongoing.
Sunday, March 1
At 12:20 p.m., employees at Motel 6, 840 S. Indian Hill Blvd., called CPD to report a guest had threatened staff members. Police arrived, questioned a 22-year-old Salinas woman, and arrested her for misdemeanor criminal threats. She was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court. She was released after a March 3 appearance at Pomona Superior Court.
Monday, March 2
Police responded to Cosmo Cleaners, 1019 W. Foothill Blvd., at 1:07 a.m. after a burglary alarm activation. Officers said the business’s front glass window had been shattered but there was no property loss. A witness described the suspect as a man in a light green jacket and blue jeans who fled the area in an older model Honda Accord. Police are investigating, and ask anyone with information to call CPD at (909)399-5411.
