Monday, February 24
Claremont Police Department officers responded to Dollar Tree, 342 S. Indian Hill Blvd., after a 9:51 a.m. call regarding a theft. There they spoke with a 34-year-old homeless woman and a 28-year-old homeless man. A search of the man’s belongings allegedly turned up the stolen property, and a records check showed a misdemeanor San Bernardino County warrant. The woman also had a misdemeanor warrant out of Los Angeles County. Both were arrested on their warrants and for misdemeanor shoplifting. The woman was also charged with petty theft, the man with receiving stolen property, both misdemeanors. They were transported to CPD, booked, and released with citations to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Tuesday, February 25
Officers were called to the 200 block of W. First Street at 11:34 a.m. following reports of a man littering in the street. Police questioned a 37-year-old homeless man, and a search allegedly turned up narcotics. He was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation.
Wednesday, February 26
Police stopped a 57-year-old homeless man riding a bicycle for vehicle code violations at 1:10 a.m. near Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue. A search allegedly turned up methamphetamine, and he was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. He was then transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation to appear in court.
Thursday, February 27
Police responded to Chevron/McDonald’s, 860 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 12:49 a.m. after receiving calls about a man brandishing a weapon. Arriving officers spoke with witnesses, who directed them to two men nearby, Fontana resident Eddie Ramirez, 28, and Robert Flores, 48, of Pomona. Police searched Ramirez and allegedly found a meth pipe. He was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a drug paraphernalia. A search of Flores allegedly turned up a knife and a meth pipe, leading to his arrest for unlawful exhibition of a deadly weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. They were transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released with citations.
Friday, February 28
A call regarding a 32-year-old Montclair man in violation of a restraining order related to an alleged domestic violence incident prompted Claremont PD to respond to the 600 block of Montgomery Circle at 1:46 a.m. Arriving officers said the man fled by car, but they caught up with him a short time later and pulled him over. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. A records check confirmed he was in violation of a court order, a misdemeanor, and also revealed five misdemeanor warrants. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, detoxed, and held for court on the restraining order violation.
Police responded to the 800 block of S. Indian Hill Boulevard at 11:34 a.m. after getting a call about a group of people using drugs. Arriving officers questioned Oceanside resident Alfredo Zavala, 42, then arrested him for public intoxication. Police said Zavala became uncooperative during a search and resisted when they attempted to put him in handcuffs. He was then restrained and received an additional charge of resisting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer, a misdemeanor. He was transported to CPD, booked, detoxed, and released with a citation.
Saturday, March 1
Police responded to Arrow Highway and Indian Hill Boulevard at 1:57 a.m. on reports of a car that had struck a fire hydrant. Arriving officers questioned the driver, Abiel Ruiz Garay, 29, of Chino, and a records check showed he was on probation for a previous DUI conviction. Ruiz Garay told police he was too injured to complete field sobriety tests, and was taken to a local hospital where he provided a chemical sample. After being released he was arrested for DUI and for violating probation, both misdemeanors. He was then transported to CPD, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation.
Claremont police arrived at Oak Park Cemetery, 410 Sycamore Ave., at 7:24 a.m. after receiving a call about a suspicious car. Officers spoke with Christian Mills King, a 29-year-old Ontario man, who was found to have a felony no bail San Bernardino County warrant. He was arrested, transported to CPD, booked, and later transferred to West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. He’s due at Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court on March 10.
