Police Blotter: May 31, 2024

Tuesday, May 21

The Claremont Police Department was called to 678 S. Indian Hill Blvd. at 2:44 p.m. regarding a disturbance. Arriving officers questions a victim who said someone threw a table at them. Police then located and detained the alleged table hurler, Los Angeles resident Donnell Wallace, 29, and a records check revealed he had felony and misdemeanor warrants from LAPD. He was arrested for the warrants and for misdemeanor battery, taken to CPD for booking, and later released with a citation to appear in Pomona Superior Court.

Police got an 8:05 p.m. call for service at Juice It Up, 448 Auto Center Dr., regarding a suspicious person. Officers questioned Joshua Cruz, a 30-year-old Montclair resident, and a records check turned up a misdemeanor warrant out of San Bernardino County and a felony Claremont warrant for grand theft. Cruz was arrested, booked, cited for the SB County warrant, and later transported to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles. He appeared in Pomona Superior Court May 23 and was released the following day.

 

Wednesday, May 22

CPD was called to Motel 6, 840 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 7:53 a.m. regarding a person knocking on doors. Police arrived and spoke to 43-year-old Andrea Siqueido, of Los Angeles. They asked her to leave the property, but she allegedly refused. She was then arrested for misdemeanor trespassing, booked, and issued a citation.

 

Thursday, May 23

Claremont police near Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue struck up an 8:47 a.m. conversation with Pomonan Julian Cortez, 24. After suspecting he was under the influence of a controlled substance, a subsequent search allegedly turned up a methamphetamine pipe. Cortez was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of unlawful paraphernalia, both misdemeanors, booked, then held for detoxification before being released with citations to appear at Pomona Superior Court.

 

Friday, May 24

Police responded to a call about a man trying to pry open a washing machine coin mechanism in the laundry room of an apartment complex in the 800 block of W. Bonita Avenue at 9:06 p.m. Arriving officers questioned Sal Jaramillo, 34, of Los Angeles. A search allegedly turned up a bag containing a controlled substance, and he was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. He was booked at CPD and issued a citation to appear in court.

A concerned person called police at 9:37 p.m. to report someone looking over the fourth floor Village parking structure at 470 W. First St. Police conducted a wellness check on Claremonter Jonathan Medrano, 38. A records check revealed he had a misdemeanor CPD warrant. He was then arrested, booked, and held for court. He appeared at Pomona Superior Court May 28 and was subsequently released.

 

Saturday, May 25

Police conducted a 2:41 a.m. welfare check on a 31-year-old unhoused woman wrapped in blankets laying on the ground near the intersection of Claremont and Foothill boulevards. A records check revealed a felony warrant out of Riverside County. She was then arrested, booked, and released with a citation.

Officers conducting a 4:05 a.m. traffic stop near the intersection of Mills Avenue and Moreno Street were interrupted when another driver, Alynda Garcia, 22, of Baldwin Park, pulled over and parked behind their police cruiser. After approaching the officers they suspected Garcia was under the influence of alcohol and conducted field sobriety tests. She was subsequently arrested for misdemeanor driving under the influence and transported to CPD where she was booked, provided a chemical sample, then held for detox. She was later released with a citation.

 

Sunday, May 26

Police arrived near Mountain Avenue and Ninth Street at 1:27 a.m. in response to a report of a car colliding with a tree. Police spoke with the driver, Pomona resident Jackcob Briceno, 29, and his female passenger. They allege Briceno displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol and performed field sobriety tests, which he was unable to complete. He was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and booked at CPD, where police say he refused to provide a chemical sample. He then had a medical emergency and was transported to a nearby hospital. Officers obtained a warrant for Briceno’s blood sample, which hospital staff then provided. He was issued a citation to appear in court.

Monday, May 27

On April 17, police responded to Motel 6, 840 S. Indian Hill Blvd., after getting an 8:15 a.m. call regarding a 38-year-old man threatening to cause harm to a woman he had a relationship with. Police allege the man brandished a cutting instrument during the incident. The man fled the motel before police arrived, prompting CPD to issue a felony warrant. On May 27, Pomona PD called to report they had the man in custody. Claremont police then took custody of him and booked him on felony charges of making criminal threats, brandishing a weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon, and for a no-bail felony warrant out of San Bernardino County. He was then transported to Central Detention Center in San Bernardino, where he was held ahead of a May 30 court appearance for the warrant.
