Wednesday, October 30
Claremont Police Department officers stopped La Verne resident Desiree Morua, 43, for a moving violation at about 2 a.m. near Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue. Police say Morua displayed symptoms of intoxication and after field sobriety tests she was arrested for misdemeanor driving under the influence and taken to the CPD jail where she was booked, held for detoxification, and later released with a citation.
Thursday, October 31
At 11:11 a.m., police were called to investigate a domestic violence incident at Motel 6, 840 S. Indian Hill Blvd. After speaking with a man and a woman, officers said the woman displayed visible injuries and arrested the 36-year-old Fontana man they determined to be the aggressor for felony domestic violence. Police booked him at CPD where he was held for court. He was later released on bond and appeared at Pomona Superior Court on November 4.
Friday, November 1
Police questioned Ontario resident Zachary Granado, 20, after pulling him over at 3:30 a.m. for allegedly running a stop sign near the intersection of Cucamonga and Mills avenues. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor underage DUI and transported to CPD jail. There, he was booked, detoxed, and was released with a citation to appear in court.
Police got a family disturbance call at 6:45 a.m. and headed to the parking lot at the 500 block of E. Base Line Rd., where they learned a father and son had gotten into an argument, and the son had allegedly pushed his father to the ground, causing him to hit his head on the pavement. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The son, a 55-year-old Upland resident, was arrested for attempted murder and elder abuse, both felonies, and transported to CPD where he was booked and held for court. On November 6 he was transported to Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, where he was to be held in front of his December 18 Pomona Superior Court appearance in Department N.
Sunday, November 3
Police stopped 29-year-old Moreno Valley resident Andrew Guerra at 2:15 a.m. near Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue after allegedly observing multiple vehicle code violations. During questioning, police say Guerra displayed symptoms of intoxication and after field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. Guerra was taken to the CPD jail where he was booked, held for detox, and later released with a citation.
Police were notified of a small brush fire near Base Line and Live Oak Canyon roads at 1:40 p.m. and worked with local agencies to quell its spread. The fire reached about three acres in size before being contained about three hours later. No structures were impacted, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
