Wednesday, September 25
The Claremont Police Department was called to a residence in the 900 block of Newberry Lane at 11:11 p.m. following reports of a disturbance. Arriving officers spoke to two parties and arrested a 36-year-old Claremont man for misdemeanor domestic violence. A records check also revealed the man had a misdemeanor warrant out of San Bernardino County, which was added to his charge list. He was transported to CPD jail, booked, and held for court on the domestic violence charge. He appeared at Pomona Superior Court September 26, was released, and appeared again September 30.
Thursday, September 26
Claremont, Glendora, Irwindale and Upland police departments and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigation conducted a joint undercover prostitution detail near Indian Hill Boulevard and the 10 Freeway. Four officers posed as prostitutes and solicited subjects who sought to engage in commercial sex acts. Once solicited, the johns were arrested by undercover officers. Arrested were Pomona residents David Allen Abernathy, 55, and Hugo Alvarado, 21; Fontana residents Amer Almnajjed, 24, and Federico Guerrero, 35; 57-year-old John Louis Cano, of Montclair; Noah Negrete, 25, of Chino; and Walnut resident Kevin Fuentes, 30. Marina resident Deantae Jeremiah Choates, 24, was also arrested for felony pimping and pandering. All were booked and released with citations to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Police responded at 7:55 p.m. to Indian Hill Boulevard and the 10 Freeway following reports of a two-vehicle collision. Officers spoke with the drivers and say Pomona resident Rudy Fuentes, 57, displayed symptoms of impairment. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. He was booked at CPD, provided a chemical sample, and was held for detoxification. He was later released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Friday, September 27
Police received a 2:15 a.m. call from Claremont Colleges Campus Safety regarding a person who had stolen a bike from a rack located in the 300 block of N. College Way. Police responded and later stopped 36-year-old Upland resident Ruben Lerma, who was allegedly in possession of the stolen bike. He was arrested for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor, and taken to CPD jail, where he was booked and later released with a citation.
Saturday, September 28
Police pulled over 32-year-old Montclair resident Albert Barajas for a moving violation at Arrow Highway and Mills Avenue at 2:27 a.m. Police say he displayed symptoms of impairment and after field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. He was booked at CPD, provided a chemical sample, detoxed, and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Police responded to Chevron/McDonald’s, 860 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 3:55 a.m. after getting multiple calls about a man asleep at the wheel of his car. After a welfare check of the driver, Sebastian Monsalvo, 21, of Hacienda Heights, police administered field sobriety tests and arrested him for misdemeanor DUI. He was then booked at CPD, provided a chemical sample, and after detox was released with a citation.
Monday, September 30
At 12:54 p.m., police responded to Stater Bros., 1055 W. Foothill Blvd., after an employee called to say a patron had threatened to shoot them. Police questioned Pomona resident Stevey Yanez, 47, who was later positively identified by the store employee as the person who allegedly made the threat. Yanez was arrested for felony criminal threats, booked at CPD, and held for court. He appeared at Pomona Superior Court October 1 and was released.
