Monday, August 25
Claremont Police Department officers stopped a driver for moving violations at 1:57 a.m. near Garey Avenue and Drake Street. After field sobriety tests, the 35-year-old Pomona woman was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. She was then transported to CPD, booked, held for detoxification, and later released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Tuesday, September 2
Police pulled over a 39-year-old Montclair man at 8:25 p.m. for equipment violations near Claremont Boulevard and First Street. A records check revealed a suspended driver’s license, and after field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and driving on a suspended license. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detox, and released with a citation.
Friday, September 5
Police questioned a 34-year-old Pomona man at Norms, 807 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 10:41 a.m. A records check turned up a misdemeanor Claremont warrant, and he was arrested, transported to CPD, booked, and released with a citation.
Police responded to Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd., at 9:58 p.m. on reports of a suspicious person. Arriving officers spoke with a 54-year-old Pomona man, and a records check showed a misdemeanor warrant out of Torrance. He was arrested, taken to the Claremont station, booked, and released with a citation.
Sunday, September 7
Police were called to the 600 block of Marion Drive at 2:57 a.m. after receiving reports of a woman screaming for help. Arriving officers found a woman in a car with a 36-year-old Pomona man. The woman told police she had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted, and that the man in the car had used a weapon to force her back into the vehicle when she tried to escape. Officers arrested the man for felony assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, kidnapping, kidnapping to commit rape, and forced oral copulation. He was then transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and held for court. He appeared in Pomona Superior Court September 9 and was transferred to North County Correctional Facility in Castaic the following day with bail set at $100,000.
Claremont Colleges Campus Safety Department officers called CPD at 8:29 p.m. to report a 59-year-old Pomona man previously advised to stay away from the area in the 100 block of E. Second Avenue had returned. Claremont officers arrested him for misdemeanor trespassing, and after a subsequent search allegedly turned up methamphetamine and a pipe, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and of unlawful paraphernalia charges were added. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released on a citation.
Police responded to a residence in the 700 block of West Bonita Avenue at 10:45 p.m. on reports of a woman crying. Arriving officers attempted to interview a 23-year-old Claremont man at the scene, but he allegedly refused to speak. As they were speaking to a woman, police say the man began to resist commands, and he was arrested for resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer, a misdemeanor. He was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released on a citation.
