Police blotter: September 13, 2024

Tuesday, September 3
Claremont Police Department officers responded to St. Ambrose Episcopal Church, 830 W. Bonita Ave., at 10:39 a.m. after a call came in asserting someone was hitting another person in the face. Police arrived, located the alleged assailant a short distance away, who they recognized from previous encounters as a 31-year-old unhoused woman. A 35-year-old unhoused man was found with her. A records check of both found one misdemeanor warrant for each, and they were subsequently arrested. After speaking with the alleged battery victim, the unhoused woman was identified as the aggressor and was also charged with misdemeanor battery. Both were taken to CPD, booked, and later released with citations to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Officers responded to the 500 block of W. San Jose Avenue regarding a court order violation. Arriving officers spoke with a woman who alleged a 49-year-old Claremont man had committed domestic violence against her. A records check of the man revealed a court order to stay away from the woman’s residence, and he was arrested at 7:39 p.m. for misdemeanor violation of a court order and for misdemeanor domestic battery. He was taken to CPD, booked, and held for court. He was released on bond on September 4 and was due back in Pomona Superior Court September 5.
Friday, September 6
At 1:19 a.m., police allegedly observed Claremont resident Ruben Crowley, 21, commit a traffic violation on his bike and stopped him near Seventh Street and Yale Avenue. A records check revealed a misdemeanor Claremont warrant, and he was arrested, booked at CPD, and later released with a citation.
Police conducted a 9:36 a.m. probation search at the Bonnie Brae Avenue home of 56-year-old Claremont resident Todd Nylander, who is on probation for a possession of child pornography conviction, according to police. Officers allege he was in violation of his order terms, leading to his arrest on a felony probation violation. He was taken to CPD, booked, and held before being transferred to Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles on September 7.
A motorist called police at 1:24 p.m. to report a possible drunk driver. Police matched the car’s description to Upland resident Erick Siordia, 26, whom they located near the intersection of Indian Hill Boulevard and Scripps Drive with a flat tire. Police say Siordia exhibited symptoms of intoxication and later determined his flat tire was caused by him hitting the curb. After field sobriety tests Siordia was arrested for misdemeanor driving under the influence. A records check also revealed he had three misdemeanor warrants, which were added to his charge list. He was booked at CPD, provided a chemical sample, held for detoxification, and later released with a citation to appear in court.
Saturday, September 7
Police arrived at Denny’s, 820 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 10:38 p.m. following reports of a patron attempting to fight employees. Officers spoke to Pomonan Eddie Cason, 30, who was identified by a worker who said he had been causing a disturbance and making threats. Police arrested Cason for felony criminal threats, took him to CPD for booking, and held him for court. After an appearance at Pomona Superior Court on September 10, he was released. He’s due back in Pomona Superior Court, Department R on October 29.
A 40-year-old Poway resident was stopped at CPD’s checkpoint near Monte Vista Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at 9:11 p.m. Police say he displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol but refused to complete field sobriety tests. He allegedly became uncooperative with officers and police discovered he had a child in the car. He was arrested for resisting arrest, child endangerment and DUI, all misdemeanors, then booked at CPD, where he provided a chemical sample and was held for court. He was released following a September 10 Pomona Superior Court appearance and is due back in front of a judge on October 29.
Montclair resident Freddy Suri, 18, was stopped at CPD’s checkpoint near Monte Vista Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at 10:02 p.m. He reportedly told police he did not have a driver’s license, which a records check confirmed. Police then say they saw open containers of alcohol in Suri’s car and that he displayed symptoms of intoxication. After field sobriety tests he was arrested for driving without a license and DUI, both misdemeanors. He was booked at CPD, provided a chemical sample, held for detoxification, and later released with a citation.
Fontana resident William Bickford was stopped at CPD’s checkpoint near Monte Vista Avenue and Foothill Boulevard at 11:45 p.m. He allegedly told police he did not have a driver’s license. A records check showed his license was long expired and that he had a misdemeanor warrant. Police cited him for the license, and arrested him for the warrant, booked him at CPD, and later released him with a citation to appear in court.
