Police Blotter: September 20, 2024

Thursday, September 12

Claremont Police Department officers stopped 53-year-old Pomona bicyclist Michael Parker for an equipment violation at 1:30 a.m. near Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue. A records check revealed a misdemeanor warrant out of San Bernardino County. He was arrested, booked at CPD, and later released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.

Officers responded to reports of a fire near Foothill Boulevard and Mills Avenue at 8:15 p.m. After speaking to a 62-year-old unhoused man nearby they determined he had allegedly set a city planter alight. He was arrested for misdemeanor arson, and taken to CPD jail for booking, and later released with a citation to appear in court.

La Verne resident Jesus Contreras Madrigal, 27, was pulled over by CPD for numerous vehicle violations near Foothill Boulevard and Garey Avenue at 11:28 p.m. Police say Madrigal exhibited symptoms of intoxication, and failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and taken to CPD, where he was booked, provided a chemical sample, held for detoxification, and later released with a citation to appear in court.

 

Friday, September 13

At 12:43 p.m., police found 33-year-old Mentone resident Lisa Michael distraught near her disabled vehicle on North Mills Avenue at the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park. A records check revealed three misdemeanor warrants and she was arrested. A subsequent search allegedly turned up methamphetamine, and police added misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance to her charge list. Michael was booked at CPD and later released with a citation.

 

Saturday, September 14

Police pulled over a car driven by Pomonan Mark Edwards, 66, for a vehicle code violation near Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue at 1:20 a.m. Officers said Edwards exhibited symptoms of intoxication, and after field sobriety tests he was arrested for misdemeanor DUI. He was booked at CPD, provided a chemical sample, and was held for detoxification before being released with a citation to appear in court.

Police say they saw 35-year-old Pomona resident Yulesma Perez drive through a red light at the intersection of Indian Hill Boulevard and American Avenue at 9:20 p.m., and stopped him. Officers say he exhibited symptoms of intoxication during questioning, and administered field sobriety tests. Perez allegedly gave officers a fake name and date of birth, but a records check revealed both his real name, and that he had never been issued a driver’s license. His car was towed, and Perez was arrested for DUI, giving false identity to a police officer, and driving without a license, all misdemeanors. During booking at CPD an officer determined he was also allegedly under the influence of a stimulant. Perez provided a chemical sample, was held for detox, and released with a citation.

 

Sunday, September 15

At 2:56 a.m., police questioned a 33-year-old unhoused man they recognized from previous encounters standing near the corner of Indian Hill Boulevard and First Street. A records check turned up a misdemeanor warrant, and he was arrested, booked at CPD, and released with a citation.
