Police Blotter: September 5, 2025

Tuesday, August 26

El Monte police called Claremont PD at 1:45 a.m. to inform them they had a 43-year-old El Monte man in custody with a felony grand theft auto warrant out of Claremont. Officers went to the El Monte station, took custody of the man, and transported him to the Claremont jail, where he was booked and later released with a citation to appear in court.

Wednesday, August 27

Police responded to the 800 block of Atlanta Court at 2:56 p.m. following calls about a suspicious person in a backyard. Arriving officers questioned a 31-year-old Covina resident, and suspected he was intoxicated. After attempting to detain him, he ran, with officers giving chase. The man was caught and arrested for misdemeanor resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer, trespassing, and disorderly conduct. He was then transported to the Claremont jail, booked, held for detoxification, and later released.

A person called police at 3:41 p.m. to report stolen packages from Integrated Resource Management, 405 N. Indian Hill Blvd. Police described the suspect, now wanted for misdemeanor petty theft, as a “chronic transient.”

Police responded to an armed robbery report outside Chase Bank, 805 W. Foothill Blvd., at 8:55 p.m. Arriving officers talked to two victims, who said they had met with two men at the bank to carry out a Facebook Marketplace deal. They said one of the buyers pointed a black handgun at them and took the item. Police investigated and identified a 25-year-old Lancaster man and vehicle used in the incident. On August 28, Santa Clarita PD stopped the car and arrested the Lancaster man for felony robbery and brandishing a firearm. He was then transported to CPD, booked, and held for court. He was later transported to a local hospital for a medical issue. The man was released on bail on August 30 and is due at Pomona Superior Court September 22. Police are still searching for the second suspect, who is wanted for felony robbery. He is described as a tall, thin Black man between 30 and 35 with long dreadlocks. He was wearing a necklace, black T-shirt, and light gray sweatpants at the time of the robbery.

Friday, August 29

Police were called to Motel 6, 840 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 4:14 a.m. because a woman was arguing with a desk clerk. Arriving officers learned the 46-year-old Moreno Valley woman had allegedly attempted to hit the employee with her car in the parking lot, and stopped her after she attempted to leave the area. A records check then revealed she was driving on a suspended driver’s license, and she was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor driving on suspend license. She was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released pending further investigation.

Police were called to Indian Hill Boulevard and Auto Center Drive at 1:50 p.m. on reports of a man in a car brandishing a firearm at another driver. The victim provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle. Claremont PD then issued an arrest warrant for the 22-year-old Pomona man. At 12:07 a.m. September 1, Pomona PD detained the man and called Claremont police, who arrested him for felony brandishing a firearm. He was booked at CPD and held for court.

A burglary on a city vehicle was reported along Monte Vista Avenue at 3:19 p.m. No suspect information was available.

Saturday, August 30

Claremont police received a 5:02 p.m. call about a residential burglary on Harvard Avenue. The caller said he saw two Hispanic people about 40 years old, a woman with red hair and a man with face tattoos, backing out of his carport in a brown Ford F-150 truck. Property worth about $690 was taken. Police are seeking the public’s assistance with the case.

Sunday, August 31

Claremont officers went to Starbucks, 810 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 11:45 a.m. on a report of a smashed car window. Police spoke to a witness who said a man broke the window. Officers then found a 48-year-old Los Angeles man, who the witness identified as the alleged window smasher. A records check showed a felony parole violation warrant out of San Bernardino County, and police arrested him for the warrant and felony vandalism. He was transported to CPD, booked, and later transferred to West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga to be held for court. He was released September 1.
