Tuesday, August 27
Claremont Police Department officers arrived at the 400 block of Converse Avenue after a 5 p.m. call came in stating a 64-year-old unhoused man was not supposed to be there. A records check confirmed that he was barred from the area and was subsequently arrested for violating a court order, a misdemeanor. He was taken to CPD, booked, and later released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Thursday, August 29
Police received an 8:11 a.m. 911 call about a fight between two men near the intersection of Indian Hill Boulevard and Arrow Highway. Arriving officers spoke with both parties, with one alleging he had been struck by an object wielded by 56-year-old Pomona resident Brent Robinson. Police searched Robinson and allegedly found the object, and he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, a felony. Robinson was booked at CPD and held for court. He arrived at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles on September 4 and is due at the Hollywood Courthouse, Department 203, on September 17.
A motorist called police at 11:42 p.m. to report a possible drunk driver. Police matched the car’s description and license plate to Pomona resident Lenis Melchor, 37, and pulled him over near Base Line Road and the 210 Freeway. After field sobriety tests Melchor was arrested for misdemeanor driving under the influence, booked at CPD, provided a chemical sample, and was later released with a citation to appear in court.
Saturday, August 31
At 2:57 a.m., police pulled over Sergio Delgado, a 28-year-old Pomona resident, near Drake and Garey avenues for an alleged equipment violation. Police say Delgado was unable to produce a driver’s license and a subsequent records check revealed he did not have one. After field sobriety tests Delgado was arrested for driving under the influence and driving without a license, both misdemeanors. He was booked at CPD, provided a chemical sample, and held for detoxification before being released with a citation.
Police were called to the 700 block of Huron Place at 1:38 p.m. following reports that a man was looking into people’s garages. Arriving officers police questioned Pomona resident Cory De Leon, 35, and a search allegedly turned up more than $950 worth of found or stolen property. He was arrested for felony possession of stolen property and for misdemeanor misappropriation of found property, a misdemeanor. He was booked at CPD and later released with a citation. Police later returned the property to its rightful owners.
Sunday, September 1
Police responded to a 9:48 p.m. call for service regarding a person playing loud music on their car stereo at Griffith Park, 1800 Woodbend Dr. Arriving officers spoke with five people before allegedly observing 20-year-old Marlene Martinez of Downey use force on another person, leading to her arrest for misdemeanor battery. Martinez was taken to CPD, booked, and later released with a citation.
Monday, September 2
At 1:19 p.m., police were called to assist Claremont Colleges campus safety officers with a man who was allegedly trespassing in the 400 block of E. Platt Boulevard. After 40 minutes of looking for the man, police left the scene but soon matched the description to a man walking near the intersection of Foothill and Indian Hill boulevards. Police stopped to question the 30-year-old unhoused man, and a search allegedly turned up methamphetamine, leading to his arrest for trespassing and possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors. He was taken to CPD, booked, and released with a citation at 4:09 p.m. At 4:33 p.m. police were called to the 700 block of Harrison Avenue by a resident who said someone had stolen a package from their property. After getting a description of the suspect and viewing home security camera footage, police determined the alleged thief was the man they had just released. Police located him a short distance away and arrested him again, this time for theft and possession of stolen property, both misdemeanors. He was again taken to CPD, booked, and again released with citations to appear in court. The package was returned to its recipient.
Officers responded to the 500 block of Aurora Drive at 6:55 p.m. regarding a family disturbance. The reporting party said a 33-year-old family member was arguing with them. Police arrived and spoke with the reporting party, which gave them probable cause to arrest the 33-year-old woman for misdemeanor elder abuse. A subsequent records check revealed a misdemeanor Los Angeles County warrant. She was then transported to CPD, booked, and later released with a citation.
