Uber refuses ride, woman drives getting DUI
On Tuesday, December 16 a woman who even Uber wouldn’t pick up was later arrested for DUI.
Kaitlin Salkham was traveling on the wrong side of College Avenue for nearly five blocks around 2 a.m. According to Lieutenant Mike Ciszek, the 24-year-old had encountered police 40 minutes earlier at a party where they advised her not to drive, as she was intoxicated. According to the Claremont PD, Ms. Salkham had tried to schedule a pick up from Uber, but the driver refused, saying she had too much to drink. Officers met up with Ms. Salkham later that night, this time behind the wheel, and determined she was more than twice the legal limit. The Upland resident had no idea where she was and told officers, “Just take me to jail, that’s fine. I’ve already been there. Just make sure my friends are safe.” Ms. Salkham was arrested for driving under the influence.
