Police blotter 11-29-19
Tuesday, November 19
A Long Beach woman was arrested after police determined she was under the influence. Police stopped 47-year-old Briana Arreola around 2 p.m. after she was seen walking up Towne Avenue north of Foothill Boulevard while carrying a vacuum cleaner, Lt. Jason Walters of the Claremont Police Department said. The officer made contact with Ms. Arreola to make sure the vacuum cleaner wasn’t from a nearby church, which has been the victim of burglaries in the past, Lt. Walters said. While the vacuum cleaner wasn’t from the church, police did find meth and prescription medication with the label taken off. Ms. Arreola was also allegedly under the influence. She was arrested and taken to CPD jail.
Thursday, November 21
Two cars were broken into near the La Puerta Sports Park. Between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., the unknown thief shattered the window of the victim’s Toyota Camry after failing to pry open the door. A garage door opener was taken from the car. The thief then smashed the window of a nearby Honda, taking a nylon tote bag containing $20 worth of books. There is no suspect information.

An Upland woman was arrested for allegedly being under the influence in the Claremont Village. Just before 2 p.m., a witness called police after seeing a “possibly intoxicated” woman fall down while walking near Indian Hill Boulevard and Seventh Street, Lt. Walters said. When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Maki David was allegedly under the influence, in possession of a hypodermic needle and prescription medication. She was arrested and taken to CPD jail, where she was released after detox.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested at Claremont High School after school administrators found a knife in his backpack. He was taken into custody around 1:30 p.m. on suspicion of bringing a weapon onto campus and later released to his parents.

A pair of headphones valued at $40 was taken from a car on the 200 block of Bryn Mawr. Between 8 p.m. on November 21 and 5:20 a.m. on November 22, the unknown thief smashed the driver’s side window and took the headphones. There is no suspect information.
Friday, November 22
A 20-year-old Claremont man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and violating a protective order. Police were called to the 700 block of west San Jose Avenue at 8 a.m. after a verbal argument between the man and a 22-year-old woman escalated to a physical altercation, Lt. Walters said. The victim received a minor injury to her nose, but was not taken to a hospital. The suspect was taken to CPD jail.
Saturday, November 23
Police are investigating a theft at a community mailbox on the 700 block of Danville Dr. Around 3:15 a.m., police received a call of two suspects prying into the mailbox, and they fled before police arrived. No suspect information was available, but they were possibly seen leaving in a black truck. It is currently unknown if anything was taken.

A Claremont man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery. Officers arrived to a home on the 1000 block of Pomello around 6:30 p.m., and after an investigation, arrested a 72-year-old man after he allegedly committed domestic battery against a 70-year-old woman at the home. The victim was not taken to a hospital. The man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and taken to CPD jail, where he later posted bond.
Sunday, November 24
A 45-year-old Claremont man was arrested in a third domestic violence call this week. Police believe the suspect got into a physical altercation with the 31-year-old female victim, leaving a red mark on the left side of her face, Lt. Walters said. The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on the 800 block of Lancaster. The man was arrested and taken to jail.

A $100 portable speaker and its $25 charger were taken from a car parked on the 500 block of south College Avenue. Between November 23 at 10 p.m. and November 24 at 10 a.m., the unknown suspect smashed the car’s window and took the goods. Police are investigating.
