Police blotter 12-13-19

Tuesday, December 3

Between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., an unknown suspect pried open a rear windowat a home on the 800 block of Stanislaus Circle, took a Nintendo Switch and some credit cards, and left undetected, Lt. Jason Walters of the Claremont Police Department said. The total value lost was about $300.

A 21-year-old Pomona woman was arrested at Knight’s Inn after police said she slapped and punched a man in a room at the motel. Officers arrived around 7:15 p.m., and after an investigation arrested the woman for domestic battery. The victim was not injured.

Wednesday, December 4

A 17-year-old boy was arrested after he allegedly led police on a high-speed chase in south Claremont. Officers tried to pull over an Audi around 3 a.m. at San Jose and Bucknell Avenues, but the driver didn’t stop, leading police on an erratic, high-speed chase. Police lost sight of the car at Mills and San Jose and called off the pursuit. Later that morning, police determined where the driver lived in Riverside and arrested him at his home, Lt. Walters said. It is unknown why the teen evaded police.

Thursday, December 5

Around $400 in goods was taken from a car in Padua Park. Between 3 and 3:30 p.m., a suspect shattered the front window of the car and took a briefcase, a laptop, a laptop charger and costume jewelry. The suspect fled undetected.

Friday, December 6

A Pomona man intentionally threw a rock into the window of a T-Mobile on Auto Center Drive just so he could be arrested. The incident happened around 3 a.m., and when police arrived, they learned the 42-year-old man wanted to be placed under arrest so he could get out of the cold weather, Lt. Waters said. He was taken to CPD jail on suspicion of felony vandalism.

A Claremont woman was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence at Motel 6. Police were called to a room at the motel around 10:15 a.m., and later found a 38-year-old woman with scratches on her face. The 25-year-old suspect was taken into custody and taken to CPD jail. The victim was not taken to a hospital.

Saturday, December 7

A Pomona man with four prior convictions for DUI was again arrested for DUI at San Jose and Bucknell Avenues. Police pulled over 33-year-old Ricardo Fernandez just before 1 a.m., and found he was driving with a suspended license, had a warrant, was on probation and was drunk while behind the wheel of his car. He was arrested and taken to CPD jail.

Officers pulled over the driver of a  Chevy Blazer at Indian Hill and Auto Center Drive around 2:45 p.m., after determining it was stolen out of Montebello, Lt. Walters said. The driver, 43-year-old Lynette Barquero, was arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto.

A woman was arrested on drug charges at the Shell gas station at Foothill and Towne after she apparently called the cops on herself. Police dispatchers received a call around 8:30 p.m. from someone “not making sense and mumbling,” Lt. Walters said. Police arrived to the scene, and found 34-year-old Shumae Dews was under the influence of an unknown substance. She was arrested and taken to CPD jail.

Monday, December 9

A Dodge Caravan was pulled over by police at approximately 12:40 a.m. on Indian Hill at San Jose, Lt. Walters said. The driver, 23-year-old Resean Smith of Altadena, was arrested for grand theft auto and two San Bernardino County warrants. He was also on probation at the time for vehicle theft. The passenger, 33-year-old Kenderick Smith, also had a warrant out for his arrest and was taken into custody.
