Police blotter 5-1-20
During the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, the Claremont Police Department said vehicles stolen within Claremont have doubled compared with this same time last year.
The number of stolen vehicles located by officers has also increased.
To allow for social distancing within the county jail system, police said people who are arrested for non-violent crimes must be released with citations.
Claremont police shared on Facebook that an officer located a stolen Chevy Silverado on a turnout off Mount Baldy Road at 10:55 p.m. on Thursday, April 23.
The driver, who is currently on probation for various weapons charges, had a no bail probation violation warrant for his arrest.
The female passenger had numerous warrants issued for her arrest from multiple counties in the Southern California area. Both subjects were arrested and then released with citations. The vehicle was returned to the owner, police said.
