All hail Los Jarritos!
Dear editor:
One man’s greasy spoon [“Farewell to thee, our glorious greasy spoon,” May 2] is this woman’s home cooked deliciousness. It is my hope that this traditional option to more “modern” styles of cooking Mexican food does not disappear. There is no fast food “Mexican” outlet that can compare to Los Jarritos. When will you be making your next Chile relleno?

Looking for some hope? Donate to a food bank
Dear editor:
I seem to be going through another change of life. Shoulder and feet out of shape, as are abs. Not buying supplies, but giving them.
I just dropped some food off at Inland Valley Hope Partners’ food bank. Here is an upper in this chaotic world. Sore shoulders and legs made my avocation give up on me, so I took a look around. Food banks are not hard to find. I shop for someone else’s food as I shop for my own, but I don’t have to store it at my house.
Get to know the givers: is there a warehouse supplier every week, do you have a freezer or fridge, are people served there unhoused or are they housed, is there a hole in the system this week, fresh or freezable? I’m not a volunteer at Inland Valley, but I’ve met some nice folks there who are.
What does it mean to go to a different store than usual, and compare prices? It means different places to walk, and the feelings of a healthy bargain again. As I said, I found an upper.
