Kudos for Claremont Veterans Day celebration
I had the pleasure of attending this year’s City of Claremont Veterans Day celebration at Memorial Park on November 11. This year’s event was particularly exciting because it celebrated former CHS graduate, soccer player, and retired four-star U.S. Army General Scott Miller — and included a wonderful keynote and the dedication of a new oak tree and rock/plaque. Scott’s speech was both appreciative and uplifting.
Thank yous need to be extended to Dan Sauter and a group of passionate Claremont residents and veterans for working hand-in-hand with the city to make this happen. Big thanks should also be extended to John Carroll and the CHS soccer alumni for turning out in big numbers for the Sunday night celebration at Espiau’s and for Monday’s formal event.
This Veterans Day event was the City of Claremont at its very best. To Sal Medina and the Claremont City Council and staff: well done!
