Newsom’s ‘Trump proofing’ assailed
Dear editor:
California’s loony governor, Gavin Newsom, has called a special Christmas season session of our state legislature to “Trump-proof” California. But before that destructive disaster gets started, let us consider what Gov. Newsom’s “Trump-proofing” measures already include:
- Building no new water storage capacity.
- Robbing local governments of their land use planning authority.
- Banning EV charging during peak hours, but still mandating 100% EV’s by 2035.
- Signing a bill requiring refineries to stockpile gasoline, driving up gasoline prices, again!
- The governor’s unelected, unaccountable left-wing CARB appointees voting (curiously just after the election) to tighten the screws on our gasoline blends, again (!), further driving up prices. As a result, Philips 66 will close its Los Angeles refinery, which is much worse than just taking it offline temporarily for maintenance.
- Fighting Proposition 36’s effort to rein in rampant lawlessness.
- Suing to prevent a tax limitation initiative from even appearing on this November’s ballot.
- Homeowner’s insurance skyrocketing, for those whose policies haven’t already been canceled.
- Hewlett Packard moving its HQ to Texas.
- Toyota moving its U.S. headquarters to Texas.
- Tesla moving its HQ to Texas.
- Chevron moving its HQ to Texas.
- X (formerly Twitter) moving its HQ to Texas.
- SpaceX moving its HQ to Texas.
I begin to see how Gov. Newsom intends to “Trump-proof” California. He will turn California in to an economic basket case, so that we are unable to enjoy the coming Trump recovery.
