CHS girls set new 800 relay record

Claremont High School’s girls varsity 800-meter sprint medley relay team of Yaroslava Willard, Annika Graham-Scanlon, Zenani Guannu, and Zylah Araujo set a new school record at the 22nd annual California Relays, finishing first at 1:50.05 at the March 14-15 meet at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach.

The previous school record of 1:50.14 was set at the 2002 Arcadia Invitational.

Other results from the competition include a first-place finish by the girls freshman/sophomore distance medley relay team at 14:01.43; a second-place finish by the girls varsity 4×800 relay team at 9:44.05; and third place finishes by Claremont’s frosh/soph boys distance medley relay team, 11:52.08, and junior Lyle Mideiros in the varsity boys 1,600-meter dash, 4:21.32.
