Claremont McKenna to unveil Rose Parade float
At 11 a.m. on Sunday, December 11, Claremont McKenna College will unveil a float it plans to enter in the 2023 Rose Parade during a family fun day at Fiesta Parade Floats, 16016 Avenida Padilla, Irwindale.
The community is invited to see CMC’s float, which depicts several elements of the CMC campus including a snow-capped Mt. Baldy, public art, iconic buildings, a creative take on CMC’s book and globe logo, and Southern California native flora, before it is decorated with flowers and plants.
CMC’s Rose Parade float is a first for the Claremont Colleges and is being designed and built by Fiesta Parade Floats.
“Claremont McKenna College’s theme ‘Launching Responsible Leaders’ represents the college’s unique mission to educate students for thoughtful and productive lives and responsible leadership in business, government, and the professions,” read a news release. “The college’s float is funded entirely through special donations with 100% of gifts received as part of the Adopt-a-Rose program supporting student scholarships.”
The day will feature food trucks, bounce castles, and special guests. The Tournament of Roses 2023 royal court will also make a special appearance and take photos with attendees. The seven-member court includes Queen Bella Ballard and princesses Michelle Cortez-Peralta, Adrian Crick, Zoë Denoncourt, Sahanna Rajinikanthan, Uma Wittenberg, and Salia Baligh.
The 2023 Rose Parade theme is, “turning the corner,” and will be held on Monday, January 2. For more information visit tournamentofroses.com.
