Filipino American history exhibit extended

“Celebrating Filipino American History,” in the Reading Room Gallery at the Claremont Colleges Library, 800 N. Dartmouth Ave., has been extended until January 13.

The exhibit celebrates the Filipino-American heritage through various text and artistic mediums and includes text from the Pacifica Collection of Austronesian languages; local history books in its “Images of America Series;” journal articles and videos in the “Resources on Filipino Americans” section; newspaper articles about foreign relations in the “Asian Newspaper Clippings Collection;” the Matt Garcia Papers, which were recently featured in the Hispanic Heritage Month exhibit; a stereo view collection by Norman Ackerman; a Burdette Boileau photograph album; and Hollis P. Allen’s collection of Japanese-Philippine materials.

The library is currently closed for winter break and will reopen at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 5. Exhibit viewings are by appointment only Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 5 p.m. The library is closed Saturday and Sunday.
