Claremont High School

Baseball (13-4)

Claremont lost at Diamond Bar Tuesday, 6-5, on a walk-off home run, bringing their Palomares League record to 2-1, 13-4 overall. Among the notables this season are catcher Jacob Lucas, who is hitting .333 with 17 hits, 11 RBIs, three doubles and a triple. Pitcher Brady Houlton is another standout with five wins and no losses and a 1.12 ERA. His 58 strikeouts are best in league, 19th in the state, and 181st in the nation. The Wolfpack hosted Diamond Bar after press time Thursday. Next up is Calvary Baptist at home 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 at Bonita.

Softball (7-10)

Following Wednesday’s 7-1 win at Diamond Bar, Claremont is 1-3 in the Palomares League, 7-10 overall. Outside two instances of back-to-back wins, it’s been difficult for the Wolfpack to string together consecutive victories this year. The team was at California High after press time Thursday. Ayala welcomes Claremont at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15.

 

Boys golf (4-7)

CHS hosted Walnut Tuesday, losing narrowly, 195-196, and bringing their Palomares League record to 1-4, 4-7 overall. Walnut hosted Claremont after press time Thursday. The team tees off against Glendora at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at Marshall Canyon.

 

Boys tennis (3-3)

Claremont recently beat Redlands and Palomares League opponents Glendora and Walnut, but lost to Los Osos, Webb, and league rivals Diamond Bar. The team hosted Diamond Bar after press time Thursday and are at Walnut at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14.

 

Boys volleyball (21-8)

Following a 3-1 loss at Los Osos on March 10, the Pack have gone on a month-long tear, recording 12 straight wins including their most recent, 3-2, at Chino Hills on March 26. The red-hot Wolfpack are 6-1 in Baseline League play, 21-8 overall. Next up is Eleanor Roosevelt on Friday, followed by Upland April 14. Both home games start at 4:45 p.m.

 

Boys swim and dive (0-5)

Claremont lost to Walnut, 106-61, at home on Wednesday. The team is 0-2 in the Palomares League, 0-5 overall. Next up is a 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 meet at Bonita.

 

Girls swim and dive (2-3)

Claremont beat Walnut, 85-84, at home Wednesday and is now 1-1 in the Palomares League, 2-3 overall. CHS is at Bonita at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8.

 

Track and field

The boys team lost 98-35, the girls 62-60 at a March 26 home meet with Glendora. The teams competed against Diamond Bar and Walnut after press time Thursday. Palomares League preliminaries and finals are set for April 28-30 at Walnut. Results from previous meets are at athletic.net.

 

The Webb Schools

Baseball (3-7)

Webb has struggled to find a rhythm this season. The Gauls’ most recent result was a 10-1 loss at Rio Hondo Prep on March 26, leaving them 0-3 in San Joaquin League, 3-7 overall. The team returns to action at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 at Western Christian.

 

Softball (1-1)

The Gauls lost to Immaculate Heart, 17-4, on March 17, then beat Vista Meridian, 23-3, March 13, leaving them at 1-0 in San Joaquin League, 1-1 overall. Samueli Academy hosts Webb at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15.

 

Boys golf (8-2)

With losses only to Western Chrisitan and Fairmont Prep this year, the team is now 8-2, 4-2 in the San Joaquin League. The boys beat Samueli Academy, 212-226, on March 24, and are back in action against Samueli at 4:40 p.m. April 16.

 

Boys tennis (8-2)

Webb lost on points to Fairmont Prep March 26 after a 9-9 tie on sets and is 4-1 in San Joaquin League play, 8-2 overall. The boys head to Pacifica Christian for a 4 p.m. match on Tuesday, April 14.

 

Boys volleyball (7-7)

After shutting out Liberty Christian, 3-0, on March 26 Webb is perfect in Western League play at 6-0, 7-7 overall. The Gauls host Cristo Rey at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 14.

 

Boys, girls swim and dive

Results from the March 12 or March 26 San Joaquin League clusters were not made available to the Courier. League preliminaries begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 24 at Webb, followed by league finals on Friday, May 1.

 

Track and field

The boys placed first with 203 points, the girls third with 98.5 at the March 24 San Joaquin League cluster. At the March 10 league cluster, the boys captured first at 216 points, the girls third with 53. San Joaquin League preliminaries begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23 at Webb. League finals begin Wednesday, April 29. Results from previous meets are at athletic.net.

 

Co-ed badminton (3-8)

With wins over Cabrillo and Valle Vista League rivals Wilson High and Rowland, Webb is 2-8 in league, 3-8 overall. The Gauls travel to Chino Hills for a 3:30 p.m. game on Tuesday, April 14.
