High school sports round up

Claremont High School
Football (2-0)
Claremont opened the season August 22 with a 17-12 home win over Capistrano Valley Chirstian, and followed it up with a 50-42 victory at Diamond Bar August 29.
The Pack are back home Friday for a 7 p.m. game against Alta Loma, then head to Kaiser in Fontana September 12 for another 7 p.m. kickoff.
Flag football (4-2)
Claremont lost to Linfield Christian, 52-13, at home Tuesday, bringing their record to 4-2.

The Pack started 2025 strong on August 11 with a 47-7 win at Garey High, followed by a 38-6 home victory over Victor Valley on August 12. A 6-0 loss to Chino followed on August 18, then a 39-6 win at Northview August 19, and a 24-0 victory at Alta Loma on August 26.
The team is back in action September 9 when it hosts Glendora at 6:30 p.m., then Ayala at 6:30 p.m. September 16.
Cross-country
Results from the August 30 ASICS Cool Breeze Invitational at Fairplex: With 238 points, Claremont placed sixth out of 31 schools in the boys’ varsity large school three-mile race. In the sundown showdown, an open school three-mile event, the girls took second with a score of 123 while the boys claimed ninth with 295. Full results are at athletic.net.
Both teams head to the scenic Hawaii Country Club in Waipahu, Hawaii for the Iolani XC Invite on September 13.
Girls golf (2-0)
Claremont beat Chino Hills twice to start the season — 226-260 on August 28 and 218-299 on Tuesday.
The team played Rancho Cucamonga after press time Thursday and will face Glendora at Glendora Country Club at 3 p.m. September 9.
Girls tennis
Claremont begins the season with a 3:30 p.m. match at Los Osos Wednesday, September 10.
Girls volleyball (5-6)
The Wolfpack beat hosts Montclair, 3-0, on Tuesday to bring their record to 5-6.
The season began August 16 at the Pasadena Poly Invitational where Claremont beat Oakwood, 2-0, lost to San Marino, 2-1, then to Notre Dame Sherman Oaks, 2-0, before prevailing over Beverly Hills, 2-0.
In the weeks since CHS lost to Rancho Cucamonga, 3-2, on August 19; shutout San Dimas, 3-0, on August 20; lost to Etiwanda, 3-1, on August 21; and to Santa Margarita, 3-0, August 26; beat Alta Loma, 3-0, August 27; and lost 3-0 to Los Osos on August 29.
The Pack was at St. Lucy’s after press time Thursday. The season continues with a 5:30 p.m. match at Diamond Bar September 10.
Boys water polo (1-2)
Claremont began the season with a 20-7 home loss to Damien on August 20, followed with another to Glendale, 18-8, August 27. Claremont then beat Los Altos, 16-10, on August 28.
The team’s next match is at 4:15 p.m. September 9 against Chino.
The Webb Schools
Football (1-0)
Webb began its season with a narrow 28-27 home win over Whittier Christian on August 30. The Gauls are back in action at 7 p.m. Friday at Hamilton High School, then return home to face Loara at 1 p.m. September 13.
Cross-country

Next up is the San Joaquin League cluster at Avalon High School at 1 p.m. September 9.
Girls golf (1-0)
Webb opened the season Tuesday with a 267-392 win over Whittier. The team is off until September 8 when it travels to Fairmont Prep for a 3:30 p.m. tee time.
Girls tennis (2-0)
Webb has been hot to start 2025, picking up home wins against Woodcrest Christian, 12-6 on August 26, and Nogales, 17-1, August 28. The season continues Friday with 3:15 p.m. home match with San Dimas, and another home test against Mark Keppel at 3:30 p.m. September 9.
Girls volleyball (3-0)
The Gauls have dropped just one set in its opening three matches, winning 3-0 over Nogales on August 26, 3-1 at Sierra Vista August 29, and 3-0 Tuesday over Baldwin Park. The team played Cal Lutheran after press time Thursday.
Next up are home contests with Sherman Indian at 5 p.m. September 9 and San Gabriel Academy at 5:30 p.m. September 11.
Boys water polo (2-3)
The Gauls won big Tuesday at Ontario, 17-2. The team was at Whittier after press time Thursday.
Results from the Corona Tournament: on August 28, Webb beat El Toro, 14-13, then lost to Norco, 20-11. On August 30, Webb lost to Fontana, 15-9, then Arlington, 16-12.
Webb has 3:30 home games Friday against Baldwin Park, September 9 with Aquinas, and Arroyo Valley on September 11.
