Claremont High School
Boys golf (9-4)
Claremont participated in the Division III CIF-Southern Section team tournament Monday at Sterling Hills Golf Course. The team finished 16th with the Pack’s six golfers shooting a combined 420. Results are posted on the CIF-SS golf application, available through the Google Play store and Apple App store.
Boys tennis (13-2)
Singles players Caleb Settles and D.J. Brownlee represented the Palomares League and Claremont High School at the CIF-Southern Section Individual Championship prelims after press time Thursday, as did captain Lance Lao and Mateen Ghafarshad in the doubles tourney. Results will appear in next week’s Courier.
Boys (6-2) and girls (4-4) swim and dive
Results from CIF-State prelims May 12 at the Clovis West Aquatic Complex: Claremont High School senior boys swimmer Roman Savage took 32nd in the 100-yard butterfly at 50.16, and 32nd again in the 500 freestyle, 4:39.19. Full results are at cifstate.org.
Boys and girls track and field
Results from the May 13 CIF-Southern Section Division I finals at Moorpark: the Claremont girls team finished 12th among 102 teams. Junior Denise Jie Yi Chen placed 13th in the 1,600-meter race, 4:57.06; and ninth in the 3,200, 10:44.61. Junior L’Mio Edwards took first in the 800 with a time of 2:09.45. Freshman Isla Bulmer was fifth at 2:16.53. All will compete in their respective events Saturday at the CIF-Southern Section Masters meet at Moorpark. In addition, the girls 4x400m relay team of Isla, L’Mio, Annika Graham-Scanlon, and Sade Escalante took seventh with a time of 3:58.51, sending them to the Masters meet. Also heading to Moorpark is the girls 4×800 relay team of Isla, Denise, L’Mio, and Kaitlyn Smith. Results from the finals are at athletic.net.
The CIF-SS Masters meet will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at Moorpark. Results will be posted at ca.milesplit.com.
The Webb Schools
Boys golf (10-3)
Freshman Jayden Kuo represented the San Joaquin League and Webb at the CIF-Southern Section Individual Northern Regional tournament May 9 at Los Robles Greens, placing 92nd with an 84. Results are at cifss.org.
The Gauls participated in the Division III CIF-Southern Section team tournament Monday at Sterling Hills Golf Course. Webb finished 20th out of 20 teams with its six golfers combining for 444. Results are posted on the CIF-SS golf application, available through the Google Play store and Apple App store.
Boys tennis (12-1)
Webb freshman Morgan Qiu, the San Joaquin League singles champion, league doubles champs Ryan Weigand and Larry Zhou, and league doubles runners-up Ben Thien-Ngern and David Liu represented the Gauls and the league at the CIF-SS Individual Championship prelims after press time Thursday. Results will appear in next week’s Courier.
Boys and girls track and field
Results from the Division IV CIF-Southern Section finals at Moorpark May 13: The boys tied for 33rd and the girls for 14th. For the boys, Jordan McCray took seventh in the 400-meter race at 51.06 while Aaden Mozia was eighth at 51.13. The boys 4×400 relay team of Aaden, Jordan, Alejandro Fountain, and Connor Plunkett took seventh. For the girls, Nicole Samson won the 800 at 2:16.13; Abbey Cook took seventh in the 400 at 58.8; and Siena Burke placed eighth in the girls 300-meter hurdles, 49.44. Full results are at athletic.net.
