Youth orchestras’ season finale concerts May 21
On Sunday, May 21, the 80-member Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra and its 65-member Intermezzo Orchestra will conclude the 2022-2023 season with performances at Pomona College’s Bridges Hall of Music, 150 E. Fourth St., Claremont. Both concerts are free and open to the public.
The Intermezzo Orchestra’s 2 p.m. concert will include works by Verdi, Ippolitov-Ivanov, Saint-Saens, Sibelius, and Tchaikovsky. The program will be preceded by the CYMO Overture String Orchestra, conducted by Wendy Waggener. Doors open at 1:45 p.m.
Then at 7 p.m., the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra, conducted by Kyle Dickson, will perform works by Leonard Bernstein and Berlioz. The soloists for the concert will be the 2023 CYMO concerto competition winners, Joseph Sung and Alvin Wang. Seating begins at 6:30 p.m.
