Claremont Stars boys win state cup
On March 18, the Claremont Stars Soccer Club won the boys Southern California State Cup Championship Final, becoming the first Stars club team to be crowned champions in several years. The team beat San Clemente Surf Soccer Club, 3-1, in the final.
The team went undefeated this year and were led by veteran coach Mike Mesisca. The group of 7- and 8-year-olds compete in the Southern California Soccer League.
“It was amazing to see this come together as they battled to win the state cup,” Coach Mesisca said in a statement. “The dedication and perseverance these young boys showed during the State Cup Tournament was amazing. They brought a ton of intensity to hundreds of hours of training this year. They love the game and each other.”
