Cross country coach moving on

Claremont High School principal Brett O’Connor has announced the resignation of long time cross country coach Rob Lander who will be pursuing a career coaching at the collegiate level.

Mr. Lander’s association with CHS cross country began when he was a runner on the team in the 1980s. In 1993 he started as assistant coach and was promoted to head coach in 2004. Earlier this year he also took over as coach of the girls’ track team.

The cross country program has done very well under coach Lander’s guidance including a Palomares League title this year.

“To the hundreds of athletes that I have coached at Claremont High, you have enriched my life more than you will ever know. Thank you. To my dear friends and fellow coaches, I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work by your side. Your support has been immeasurable and your contributions invaluable.” Mr. Lander wrote in his resignation letter.
