Bishop, Boos, Kading and Renken medal at Cal. State meet

Claremont senior Owen Bishop ran the fastest 1600 meters of his high school career during the California Sate Meet finals on Saturday but one runner was slightly faster so Bishop had to settle for second place.

Luis Grijalva of Armijo High School in Fairfield finished 4:08:62, with Bishop at 4:09:74 and Claremont senior Ryan Renken rounding out the top three at 4:11:02.

Claremont senior Annie Boos placed third in the 1600 meters at 4:52:67.

Cameron Kading won the 100 meter paralympic event at 12:84, which was a personal record (PR) for the junior. Kading also took second in the 200 meter event a fraction of a second behind Mater Dei’s Henry Waterman.

Still it was quite the finish to a remarkable season for the Pack’s distance runners that included dual state team tiles in cross country, dual Palomares League titles in track, and Bishop’s individual victory at the state cross-country meet.
