Claremont High School senior Sydney Hwang has been named the Palomares League’s female scholar athlete of the year. The announcement was made Monday night during a ceremony in Covina attended by her parents, CHS Principal Brett O’Connor and Athletic Director Mike Collins.

Hwang has been on the cross country and track teams all four years she attended CHS and has been a team leader since her sophomore year.

During that time she maintained an un-weighted 4.0 GPA and will attend Princeton University in the fall where she will be on the cross country and track and field teams.

“Starting her with her sophomore year Her dedication and work ethic raised the bar for the for all of our runners have on our program,” Mr. Collins said about Sydney during Monday’s announcement.
