CHS coaches offer three skills camps for girls
Claremont High School coaches will offer sports camps for athletes who are interested in joining girls sports teams next year. Camps will be offered in tennis, water polo and basketball.
Tennis
Claremont High School junior varsity tennis Coach Mark Anderson will be leading a four-week session of drills and match play to prepare current and prospective high school players for the fall season.
The camp will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 25 to July 19 at Claremont High School. A one-time fee of $50 will be collected at the clinic and players may attend as many of the eight sessions as fit into their schedule.
To enroll, send an email to Coach Anderson at manderson@cusd.claremont.edu. A minimum number of 10 players must sign up for the camp to continue, with a maximum of 16.
Please bring cash or a check made out to CHS ASB on your first day.
Tryouts for the girls tennis team will take place August 21-22, however student athletes must complete the athletic clearance process in order to try out.
For more information, contact Coach Kathy Settles by email at kathy@settlestennis.com.
Water polo
CHS girls water polo summer program takes place next week from June 17 to June 19. Interested athletes must complete a new athletic clearance form, including getting a physical.
Summer camp costs $225, and checks can be made out to Claremont High School girls water polo. Registration forms are available on the CHS Athletics website, and must be delivered to Coach Gary Cheever on Friday June 14 between 3 and 4:30 p.m.
Athletes are required to provide swimsuits, goggles, swim caps, gym gear, drinking water and sunscreen.
Basketball
Claremont girls basketball will be holding a skills camp hosted by Coach Mike James and his staff. The focus will be on the fundamentals of offensive and defensive basketball. Players from the camp will be invited to play on a Claremont team for summer league games. Athletes must have a new clearance including a physical.
Come dressed to play, with basketball shoes, shorts and t-shirt but no jewelry. If you bring a ball, make sure you have your name on it.
Summer league costs $150 for the entire program, which runs through July. Bring cash or a check made out to Claremont Girls Basketball Boosters.
