When P.J. Walker was in second grade he wanted to take classes in hip hop style dancing taught at Village Dance Arts in Claremont. Always seeking to encourage her child’s interests, Grace Kao was more than happy to accommodate, but with a slight caveat. On Monday the Claremont Police Department announced it had selected Brittany Sornborger to be the next school resource officer. The SRO handles most calls for service at Claremont’s public school campuses as well as related duties including attending afterschool events such as football games.
On Thursday, the Claremont High School girls tennis team added a fifth consecutive title to their history after they defeated Glendora High School at home, 16-2. The match not only closed out Palomares league play, but also extended the team’s unbeaten run to 12 matches.

A Claremont High School teacher was off the job Friday after inflammatory comments allegedly made to students Thursday resulted in the school district opening an investigation into the incident. A once strong partnership turned bitter over the purchase price of School of Theology property. On June 5, 1957, The Claremont Colleges signed off on a real estate transaction with the Southern California School of Theology (soon to be known as the Claremont School of Theology) to sell 16.4 acres of its Village-adjacent land for $107,500.
