Being prepared one hop at a time
So why are all these El Roble students hopping around the school gym picking up pieces of paper off the floor? Each year about this time members from the Rotary Club of Claremont spend three days teaching students everything from first aid, to disaster preparedness, to CPR and more. It’s all part of Rotary’s Together We Prepare program that has been part of El Roble’s curriculum for 41 years. At the end of the program on Friday, groups of students picked up photos of the essentials—first aid kit, flashlight, etc—needed to help survive a major disaster. The team that hopped to pick up the largest variety of photos, got to go to lunch first. It was the big end to a big week of being prepared. COURIER photo/Peter Weinberger
