Man in stolen car nabbed by police

A Glendora man led Claremont police on a short pursuit Thursday morning, ending in his arrest near the intersection of Towne Avenue and Arrow Highway.

Nicholas Gomez, 25, was pursued in connection with a stolen 1991 Toyota Pickup out of Walnut, according to Lieutenant Mike Ciszek. A stationary Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) received a hit on the stolen truck as it drove westbound on Arrow Highway.

At around 8:47 a.m., police attempted to pull over the vehicle. However, Mr. Gomez refused to stop, leading police on a short pursuit northbound on Towne Avenue. Mr. Gomez eventually turned south on Arrow Highway, parked, and bailed from the pickup in an attempt to flee. The vehicle’s passenger remained in the truck and was cooperative with police.

Mr. Gomez was taken into custody by police within minutes, and booked for driving a stolen vehicle, pursuit, as well as resisting and obstructing an officer. Mr. Gomez was also found to have parole at large warrant.
