Sustainable Claremont to host ‘bike rodeo’ in January

Sustainable Claremont has announced its first ever “bike rodeo,” set for late January.

At a TBA date in late January 2023, the local nonprofit will hold the event aimed at teaching local youth about the importance of riding their bikes to school, how to be safe while doing so, and bike maintenance. Sustainable Claremont will also be advocating for slower and safer local streets.

“The event will include various stations that participants pass through, with everything from bike and helmet checks to practicing skills like safely passing a parked car and crossing an intersection,” read a news release.

The bike rodeo is made possible by a $1,000 donation from Claremont Sunrise Rotary. The donation will also help Sustainable Claremont create bike kits that will aid Claremont Unified School District campuses in setting up their own rodeo courses in the coming years.

Sustainable Claremont hopes to make the rodeo into an annual event. For more information call (909) 625-8767, extension 238.
