‘The Skin of the Land’ at Ahmad Shariff Gallery
Ahmad Shariff Art Gallery, 107 Harvard Ave., Claremont, will host a free and public opening reception for “The Skin of the Land,” a solo art exhibition featuring works by visual artist and Claremont resident Jackie Leishman, during the 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, August 3 Claremont Art Walk.
The exhibit highlights American West landscapes and will be up through August 24.
“The exhibition draws inspiration from a memorable experience Leishman had while hiking in Kolob Canyon within Zion National Park,” according to a news release. “During that hike, she encountered a man from Tennessee who made an annual pilgrimage to the western United States specifically for its breathtaking landscapes. When asked why he preferred the West over the beautiful mountains back East, he replied, ‘Because out West, I can see the skin of the land.’”
Museum hours noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information visit ahmadshariffgallery.com.
