The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, at 900 Exposition Blvd., Los Angeles, will host its 37th annual Bug Fair May 20 and May 21. The festival celebrates local and exotic insects, including this year’s featured insect: the emerald cockroach. The fair takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days and is sponsored by Nickelodeon.

Visitors will learn about insects through up-close encounters with creatures and by meeting entomologists. Guests can also meet SpongeBob characters at the Nickelodeon booth, watch an insect-focused cooking demonstration, do crafting activities, and explore the museum’s diorama halls which will be filled with exhibitors and vendors.

The fair is free with museum admission or with NHM membership. More information is at nhm.org.
