Hundreds of faculty, students, alumni, staff, and friends of Claremont Graduate University packed the campus Saturday for its spring centennial celebration.
The event included campus tours, a community fair, an alumni art exhibition, a talk on CGU’s 100-year legacy, poetry readings, and an alumni social and panel discussion. The CGU community also heard from new interim president Michelle Bligh, who assumed office that day.

“I couldn’t be more excited and honored,” she told the Courier. “We have an amazing community here at CGU. One hundred years of history in Claremont, and I’m a big fan of the Claremont Colleges. I went to Pomona College and have worked and taught in all seven of the institutions, so I really feel that both the Claremont Colleges and the City of Claremont are an extra special place, and I’m honored to be able to work as president.”
The university will hold multiple events throughout the year, culminating October 14 with its 100-year celebration.
