The Claremont High School Cross Country Team, also known as CXCP, is holding its annual 24-hour relay to help raise donations for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, a nonprofit company that supports those impacted by blood cancer through research, patient financial support and advocacy.

The 24-hour relay has been a CHS cross country team tradition for decades and 2022’s relay will start at a.m. sharp on Friday, July 15, ending 24-hours later at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 16. The relay will take place at Claremont High School’s track.

“The relay provides an opportunity for team bonding and helps foster strong communication channels between the team members and the coaching staff,” an email from Jeff Blezien, campaign development manager for the LLS’s Team in Training said. “The relay also allows the opportunity to help contribute to a charity, and various entities have benefited from the team’s fundraising throughout the years.”

LLS is at the forefront in the fight against cancer as 75% of FDA approved drugs for blood cancer have been funded by LLS in the past few years, and those drugs have also been used to help 16 different diseases. This year, speakers from the LLS will be attending the relays conclusion on Saturday and will share their stories.
