After a lively debate, the council voted, 4-1, to approve the group’s recommendations to reimagine school safety in Claremont, including keeping the school resource officer. The recommendation now heads to the Claremont Unified School District Board of Education for a vote. Councilmember Ed Reece dissented because he believes the CUSD board will want to negotiate the memorandum of understanding and hoped to immediately impanel a group to come up with a final recommendations before sending them off to the district.
