CPP professor earns presidential STEM award

Former President Joe Biden named Cal Poly Pomona chemistry Professor Sabine Eileen Stieber as one of 25 recipients of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy on January 13. The award was given in coordination with the National Science Foundation. It includes a $10,000 prize.
“Established by Congress in 1995, this award has honored the hard work and dedication mentors exhibit in broadening participation in STEM pathways,” read a news release from the Biden White House. “This award honors individuals and organizations that have demonstrated excellence in mentoring individuals from groups that are underrepresented in STEM education and the workforce. Colleagues, administrators, and students nominate individuals and organizations for exemplary mentoring sustained over a minimum of five years.”
